What is the difference between regular countries and special countries?

Regular Countries are destinations that allow unlimited roaming periods. When you're in a regular country, you do not have to reactivate GROAM nor apply for an extension unless you specified a roaming period.

Special Countries, on the other hand, only allow limited roaming periods. When in these countries, you can only use your roaming service for a maximum of 180 days. You can request for an extension after the 180 day period. If you wish to have it extended, you can only do so for up to 14 days.

Please refer to the table below for the list of Special Countries:

Japan Bahrain Turkey USA Afghanistan
Kuwait Oman Yemen UAE China
Saudi Arabia Pakistan Serbia & Montenegro Uzbekistan Qatar
How much will I be charged for this service?

Here's a table to help you out:

How do I make calls while on GROAM when I am abroad?

When calling from the countries and respective network operators listed below, simply dial "+" + country code + area code + mobile number.

For all other networks and destinations, dial *131* + country code + area code (or partner code) + mobile number + "#". (Example: *131*639171234567#)

How about sending texts? How do I do it while on GROAM when I am abroad?

When sending a message, just use the international number format. That's "+" + country code + area code + mobile number.

How much balance do I need to activate my GROAM?

Is there a minimum balance that I need to maintain if I want to make calls or send text messages with my roaming service?

We highly recommend that you have at least Php 500 to enjoy seamless roaming experience, and at least Php 50 to keep your roaming services active.

What will happen if my load falls below the maintaining balance?

When should I activate my GROAM when going abroad?

While in the Philippines:

We highly suggest that you activate your roaming service at least 24 hours before your flight's departure time. However, you can also register as early as 7 days before leaving or as late as an hour before your flight.

Remember that your GROAM request will be on pending status when you activate it in the Philippines. It will only be approved once you arrive in your destination. That means, while in the Philippines, you can still enjoy local services such as data browsing, promos, DUO, Share-a-Load and ringback tones. These services will be unavailable once you reach your destination and get your roaming signal activated.

Upon Arrival in Your Destination:

You will receive a message to confirm if you would like to activate your roaming. You will be given 24 hours to confirm. During that 24-hour period, your roaming will be active and your transactions will be charged at regular roaming rates.

  • Reply GROAM YES: If you would like to activate your roaming. Roaming SMS charges will apply.
  • Reply GROAM NO: If you would not like to activate your roaming. Roaming SMS charges will apply.
  • No Reply: If you do not reply within 24 hours, your roaming will be deactivated.

Within the 24-hour period, you will first receive 3 SMS notifications to ask if you would like to activate your roaming. These SMS notifications are free of charge.

How can I check the status of my GROAM request?

If you're either in the Philippines or in a different country EXCEPT for Canada (Rogers) and Ireland (O2 Communications), there are two ways for you to check your GROAM request status:

  1. By dialing *143# on your mobile phone, then press 9 for Roaming, and then press 3 to check your status./li>
  2. By texting GROAM STATUS to 2884.

If you're in Canada (Rogers) and Ireland (O2 Communications), simply text GROAM STATUS to 2884.

A text message will then be sent to you showing your status. You will be charged Php 2.50 for the text message if you check your status from the Philippines, and Php 2.50 + the roaming SMS rate if checking from a different country.

How long can I use my roaming service?

The length of the usage depends on the type of country you're in.

What will I do when I travel from one country to another? Will my roaming service be maintained?

You may refer to this table:

How can I reactivate my roaming if I get temporarily disconnected?

To reactivate your roaming service that was temporarily disconnected, you may either:

  • Reload via Share-a-Load:
You may ask your loved ones in the Philippines to send load to you, and then request activation by tweeting @talk2GLOBE or calling the Globe Roaming Hotline at +6327301212.

  • Purchase load via Autoload MAX online:
You may buy mobile credits (load) through our online website using your preferred credit card or GCASH. To do this, simply go to www.globe.com.ph then select the "Prepaid" menu. If you are in any of the Special Countries, or Regular Countries and wish to specify your roaming duration, simply text GROAM EXTEND <# of days> and send to 2884. Please note that for Special Countries, you will only be allowed to extend a maximum of 180 days per roaming duration.

Don't forget too that extension requests will be required 24 hours before the end of the roaming duration. If you don't extend before the end of the original roaming service, you will only be able to extend after 14 days.

Can I enjoy roaming with zero balance? How?

Yes, you may enjoy roaming with zero balance. To do that, simply link your roaming SIM to a regular Globe Prepaid SIM:

In the Philippines:
Simply REG <11-digit roaming mobile number> to 2884 for FREE.

Abroad:
Text LINK <11-digit mobile number> to 2884. Roaming rates apply.

If you want to check your status, just text CHECKLINK <11-digit mobile number> and send to 2884. Roaming rates apply.

Can I register to other Globe prepaid promos while on roaming?

Sorry, but you can't. It's because other Globe prepaid promos such as GoSakto, Unli calls & texts are blocked when you're on roaming.

I see. But can I Share-A-Load while on roaming?

That's not allowed, too. You cannot Share-a-Load to anyone while you're on roaming. However, you can receive Share-a-Load from your loved ones in the Philippines even when you're on roaming.

When do I need to deactivate my GROAM?

It is recommended that you deactivate your GROAM services within 24 hours upon arrival in the Philippines.

How do I deactivate my GROAM?

You can do it in 2 ways:

  • By texting GROAM OFF and send it to 2884. You will then receive a message to confirm your request for deactivation.
  • By calling our Roaming Hotline at +6327301212.
What will happen if I don't deactivate my roaming service?

Failing to do so will mean that your roaming service is still activated, and you will be required to maintain a minimum balance of Php 50 to make a call or send a text message. Also, you will be unable to use local services that were blocked while you were on roaming, like data browsing, Share-a-Load, promo registrations, and ringback tones.

Note that regular local rates will be applied despite active roaming service.
