What is the difference between Regular Countries and Special Countries?

Regular Countries are destinations that allow unlimited roaming periods. When you're in a Regular Country, you do not have to reactivate GROAM or apply for an extension unless you specified a roaming period.

Special Countries, on the other hand, only allow limited roaming periods. When you're in these countries, you can only use your roaming service for a maximum of 180 days. You can request for an extension after the 180-day period. If you wish to have it extended, you can only do so for up to 14 days.

Please refer to the table below for the list of Special Countries:

Saudi Arabia

Serbia & Montenegro

How can I activate my GROAM?

You can activate your GROAM in a number of ways:

Via SMS:

Simply text GROAM ON and send to 2884.

If you want to activate your roaming service only for a specific period, just text GROAM ON to 2884. Example: GROAM ON 06/18/2013 27.

Via Twitter:

Tweet to @talk2GLOBE to request GROAM activation.

Via Hotline:

Call +6327301212 and request for activation. Don't forget that charges will apply if the call is made while roaming

When should I activate my GROAM when going abroad?

While you're still in the Philippines, we highly suggest that you activate your roaming service at least 24 hours before your flight's departure time. However, you can also register as early as seven (7) days before leaving or as late as an hour before your flight.

Your GROAM request status will be tagged as “Pending” when you activate it in the Philippines. Your request will only be approved once you arrive at your destination. This means, while in the Philippines, you can still enjoy local services such as data browsing, promos, DUO, Share-a-Load and ring back tones. These services will be unavailable once you reach your destination and get your roaming signal activated.

Upon arrival at your destination, you will receive a message to confirm if you would like to activate your roaming. You will be given 24 hours to confirm. During that 24-hour period, your roaming will be active and your transactions will be charged at regular roaming rates.

  • Reply GROAM YES: If you would like to activate your roaming. Roaming SMS charges will apply.
  • Reply GROAM NO: If you would not like to activate your roaming. Roaming SMS charges will apply.
  • No Reply: If you do not reply within 24 hours, your roaming will be deactivated.

Within the 24-hour period, you will first receive 3 SMS notifications asking if you would like to activate your roaming. These SMS notifications are free of charge.

How do I check the status of my GROAM service?

If you're either in the Philippines or in a different country except for Canada (Rogers) and Ireland (O2 Communications), here's what you should do:

  • Dial *143# on your phone > Press 5 for International roaming > Press 2 to Roaming services>Press 3 Check Roaming Status.
  • Text GROAM STATUS to 2884.

You will then receive a message showing your status. Take note that you will be charged Php 2.50 for this text message if you checked your status from the Philippines, and Php 2.50 + the roaming SMS rate if checking from a different country

For subscribers here in the Philippines who want to know if their relative/friend has signal while roaming, you can dial *143# on your phone, then choose 2 My Account > 2 Check Signal Status > Press 1 Check signal status of other Globe no.

If you're in Canada (Rogers) or Ireland (O2 Communications), simply text GROAM STATUS to 2884.

You will receive a message showing your status. Don't forget that you will be charged PHP2.50 for this text message if you check your status from the Philippines, and PHP2.50 + the roaming SMS rate if checking from a different country.

Is there a way for me to check my signal status?

Yes, there is! You just have to select the option to allow number checking so that your relatives and friends in the Philippines may be able to check your signal status. Here's how:

Dial *143# on your phone then choose 2 for My Account > 2 for Check Signal Status > Choose Allow all numbers to view my signal status.

If you want to disable this feature, you can also dial *143# then choose 2 for My Account > 2 for Check Signal Status > Choose Block All numbers from viewing my signal status.

How much balance do I need to have my GROAM activated?

Although activation is free, you need to have a minimum balance of PHP100 to activate your GROAM and PHP50 to continue using your GROAM services after activation.

How do I make calls while on GROAM when I am abroad?

Direct dialing to the countries listed in the table below is temporarily not available until October 2015.

Hong Kong

Yes Optus

South Korea

Bhardi Airtel Ltd.

Roaming Hotline calls through this new syntax (i.e. +637301212) is toll-free. If you are in the countries listed above, you can still dial *131* but will be charged with current outgoing call rates and will not experience seamless voice calls.

For all other networks and destinations, Dial *131* + country code + area code (or partner code) + mobile number + "#".

For example: *131*639171234567#

How about sending texts? How do I do it while on GROAM when I am abroad?

When sending a message to someone, just use this International Number format: + country code + area code + mobile number.

For example: +639171234567

Don't forget that it's recommended that you have at least PHP500 to enjoy seamless roaming experience, but you only need to maintain at least PHP50 to keep your roaming services active.

Is there a minimum balance that I need to maintain if I want to make calls or send text messages with my roaming service?

It is highly recommended that you have at least PHP500 to enjoy seamless roaming experience, but you only have to maintain at least PHP50 to keep your roaming services active

What will happen if my load falls below the maintaining balance?

Should your balance fall below PHP50, your outgoing calls and text messages will not be allowed. To avoid this, you must reload within 72 hours after falling below the maintaining balance. Otherwise, your GROAM will be temporarily disconnected.

How do I check my balance?

For Zones 1 and 2, simply dial *143# on your Globe mobile phone for FREE. From the menu, press "2" for My Account then then press "1" for Balance Inquiry.

For Zone 3, you can text BAL and send to 2215 (P25/text).

Please make sure that you have at least PHP100 to reactivate your GROAM.

For how long can I use my roaming service?

The length of usage depends on the type of country you're in. Remember that countries where GROAM is active are classified as either Regular or Special.

Is it possible for me to extend my GROAM service?

Of course! If you are in any of the Regular Countries and you already specified your roaming period when you registered before, just text GROAM EXTEND to 2884 to extend your service.

Will I be charged for unanswered incoming and outgoing calls even if I don't use my Prepaid SIM for calls and texts?

Nope. You will not be charged for any unanswered incoming and outgoing calls unless you will leave a voice mailbox message.

Can I register to other Prepaid promos while on roaming?

Sorry, but Prepaid promos such as GoSAKTO, DUO and SUPERDUO are blocked when you're on roaming.

What will I do when I travel from one country to another during my extension period? Will my roaming service be maintained?

Failing to do so will mean that your roaming service is still activated, and you will be required to maintain a minimum balance of PHP50 to make a call or send a text message. Regular local rates will be applied despite active roaming service.

How do I deactivate my GROAM service?

You can text GROAM OFF and send it to 2884. You will receive a message to confirm your request for deactivation. You can also call our roaming hotline at +6327301212.

Just remember that it's recommended that you deactivate your GROAM service within 24 hours upon arrival in the Philippines.
