How Better Connectivity Helped Businesses Thrive Amid the Pandemic

With better connectivity, many businesses attempted to innovate during the pandemic in an effort to stay afloat. It was also an opportunity to reexamine their business purpose.

Amazing Playground, a local business specializing in apparel used social media to study how their products can better serve customers, and at the same time find a sustainable way to maintain their business.

Thanks to technology and the availability of reliable internet, Amazing Playground found an opportunity to create a new line of products. Using retazos from their original clothing line, the company came up with a line of face masks that mirror the same unique style of its clothing line.

“Right now we’re doing better online. Through online connectivity, nagkaroon kami ng plans (we now have plans) to expand. Like now, for example, we’re trying to have a branch in Las Vegas. Unlike before, kung ano lang ang malalapit na areas (whichever areas are near), ‘yun lang nag nagiging market namin (that’s our only market). Now it becomes wider. Without connectivity, I guess maraming opportunities na mawawala (there will be a lot of missed opportunities),” shares Amis Tumang, Owner of Amazing Playground.

According to global data from Hootsuite and WeAreSocial, 80.2% of the Philippine population has adopted e-commerce in their lifestyle. Globe maintains its momentum in improving its network and upgrading its sites to build a #1stWorldNetwork, putting up new sites in both urban and rural areas, to give more customers access to connectivity whilst improving the internet experience.

The company strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9 which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the 10 United Nations Global Compact principles and 10 UN SDGs.
