A Renewed Partnership Between De La Salle College of Saint Benilde and Globe for the Future of Digital Learning
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, a few educational institutions knew the importance of investing in a reliable and established Learning Management System (LMS). This platform would help in the swift and efficient delivery of digital learning, which is why since acquiring Brightspace LMS back in 2015, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde has renewed its partnership with Globe.
Back in 2015, Globe’s Brightspace LMS was branded by Benilde as BigSky Benilde. The platform has helped in the development and implementation of online classes. In addition, BigSky Benilde has empowered teachers in creating engaging lessons supported by a variety of tools. It has also aided in tracking students’ progress for timely and appropriate feedback on accomplished work.
“With D2L Brightspace, learning has become more democratic, as students are provided with options regarding the time, place, and pace at which they want to learn. With its competency and outcomes-based structure, differentiated learning that is difficult to conduct in a face-to-face mode of teaching is now possible,” shared Rogelio “Tugel” Dela Cruz Jr., Head of Educational Technology Office at Benilde.
Today, when virtual learning is the norm, BigSky Benilde becomes an even more important tool to provide continuous learning. Moreover, Benilde’s renewal of their license with Globe strengthens the fact that tools offered by the company are an asset to any educational institution and that Brightspace by D2L remains a superior LMS in maintaining continuous communication and collaboration amongst teachers and learners.
“Globe’s Brightspace LMS will help schools cope with the pandemic and beyond, by continuously providing interactive classes beyond the school walls. This does not aim to simply get them through this health crisis, but also to change the culture of teaching, from traditional classroom to more interactive, responsive, and potentially individualized learning,” shared Eli Malicdem, Globe’s Product Manager for Educational Solutions.
Brightspace is a world-class product being used by over a thousand institutions worldwide. Globe, in partnership with D2L, has brought Brightspace to numerous institutions located in several cities in the Philippines, Benilde being one of these institutions. Globe remains committed to helping Philippine schools cope with the needs of the education industry, which remains an important pillar in the nation's development.
Benilde started as a night school for working students. Today, the College is recognized for innovative and non-traditional programs that are responsive to the country’s established industries as well as in emerging fields of specializations in Deaf studies, hotel and tourism, business, diplomatic affairs, and design and arts. In 2019, Benilde was granted autonomous status by CHED by the issuance of CMO No. 12, series of 2019, and was recognized as an Apple Distinguished School.
