Globe Deploys WiFi Jeepneys to Help Communities Affected by Typhoon Quinta

Globe is deploying WiFi jeepneys to handle Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi services in Marinduque and Oriental Mindoro, two of the provinces severely hit by Typhoon Quinta.


The free communications services will be available from October 29 to 31, 9 am to 12 nn and 2 pm to 4 pm at the Municipal Grounds of Santa Cruz and the Municipal Covered Court and Poblacion in Torrijos in Marinduque. For Oriental Mindoro, services are available on October 29, from 2 pm to 4 pm and October 30-31 from 9 am to 12nn, and 2 pm to 4 pm at the Poblacion Municipal Covered Court in Pola.

There will be designated lanes for the different services at each side of the jeepney to prevent crowding and ensure social distancing. The booths are in operation for three hours in the morning and another three hours in the afternoon with a two-hour break in between for disinfection of facilities.

Globe ensures the safety of both the volunteers and the public by strictly following government health protocols such as the use of face masks, observing social distancing, and conducting contract tracing and temperature checks.

The company also delivered 1,800 Rise against Hunger (RAH) meal packs to Batangas City Sports Coliseum for 600 families in Brgy. Dela Paz Pulot Aplaya, Brgy. Dela Paz Proper and Brgy. Talahib Pandayan in Batangas City.  This was done through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and the local government unit.

Globe, through ABS-CBN Foundation, is also providing meal packs to 1,429 families in Brgy Danlagan and Bocboc in Lopez, Quezon; Brgys Mandile and Salacot in San Miguel, Bulacan.  The first wave of meal packs distribution was already held in San Miguel Island, Tabaco City Albay on October 27.
