Globe At Home Features Filipino Comedian Kiray in New #PlayItRight Video to Combat Piracy
Globe At Home launched recently a new educational video under its #PlayItRight campaign to increase public awareness against the dangers of consuming pirated movies, whether through video streaming or downloading via torrent from websites that are not authorized to distribute copyrighted content.
Martha Sazon, Senior Vice President for Globe Broadband Business, said that internet users in the Philippines should know that not all content in the internet are legal and safe. “We want to inform every netizen that watching content using illegitimate sources is an illegal act and can put one at risk of possible malware attacks,” Sazon explained.
The new #PlayItRight video shows local celebrity Kiray comparing the poor quality of movies using an illegitimate source against the better quality of a legitimate source. Kiray then enumerates the different types of malware that can harm the device or the user. Malware or malicious software is any piece of software that intends to corrupt data, harm devices and unknowingly put people at risk.
Sazon issued a warning that the threats are real and quite rampant in the internet nowadays. “We want our customers and the public to be aware so they can protect themselves proactively before they get compromised. Free content does not necessarily mean it is also safe. This is why we are encouraging everyone to watch videos and other forms of entertainment using legitimate sources only,” she revealed.
“We are inviting everyone to watch and share the new #PlayItRight video at our Globe Bridging Community page to be informed, so you can protect yourself as well as your friends and family, against the danger of using illegitimate sources,” she added.
