Globe Readies Disaster Assistance as Taal Alert Level Raised to 2
Globe is ready to extend assistance as part of its disaster preparedness campaign to residents living in affected areas near Taal Volcano in Batangas, following a series of volcanic tremors, low-frequency volcanic earthquakes ground deformation and changes in the main crater lake which raised its alert level status to 2.
Globe’s Libreng Tawag, Charging, and WiFi services are set to be deployed in places where residents are set to be evacuated.
Globe is also providing free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology PHIVOLCS for Globe and TM customers as it reminded Filipinos in affected areas to always be prepared and make sure to tune into legitimate news sites and updates from authorities.
Globe encourages the public to tune into legitimate news sites and get updates only from authorities such as Phivolcs and NDRRMC to prevent conflicting information about Taal volcano’s activity and the affected cities and barangays.
As part of its public service, Globe ensures that access to the websites of Phivolcs and NDRRMC are free for its mobile and Home Prepaid WiFi customers. The following sites may be accessed:
Globe also reminds affected residents to fully charge their phones, expect to receive SMS alerts from NDRRMC and to stay indoors. They must also be ready to evacuate if needed. They should also prepare a grab-and-go bag, dust masks, and goggles to protect their face from ash and other particles.
