Globe Telecom is leading the way in helping businesses do their share in minimizing the environmental impact of electronic waste and countering its harmful effects on health through close collaboration with private corporations on the adoption of Project 1 Phone (P1P) mobile recycling program.
At the forefront of the advocacy is Globe Business which is on the second month of its year-long environmental sustainability campaign using P1P as a platform. This is the third year for Globe Business to rally its enterprise clientele to join the program.
"Apart from adopting environmental sustainability efforts in our own organization, Globe Business is taking it a step further by making it possible for our enterprise customers to be involved in saving the environment, which is integral to their corporate sustainability thrusts," said Globe Senior Vice President for Enterprise Group Peter Maquera.
Globe Business engages its corporate clients to run the P1P campaign in their organizations by encouraging donations of individual and company e-waste such as non-working or damaged phones and tablets, mobile phone batteries, and even personal computers. This year, the group has already received commitment from companies like UnionBank and Nestlé Philippines and is still encouraging other companies to join in the cause.
With the environmental sustainability initiatives, Globe Business inches closer in redefining how businesses work—going beyond functions, numbers, and performance. The enterprise ICT arm of Globe Telecom helps turn businesses’ passion and purpose into reality through the right technology, infrastructure, and know-how that transform people’s lives.
P1P was born in 2014 to help address dwindling earth resources which are further reduced when people carelessly dump e-waste and other hazardous materials in the environment. Many people are unaware that electronic items thrown together with common trash contain toxic metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and beryllium, and may harm the environment when released into the air, the ground, or waterways.
P1P is part of Globe Telecom's efforts to create a #WonderfulPH by operating responsibly and creating positive environmental impact of its business operations.
