Globe Sets Up Free Calls, WiFi in Tandag City Surigao Del Sur
Globe’s Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi services are now available in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur to assist residents who were displaced by Tropical Depression Auring which caused massive flooding in the area.
The free services were set up at the Telaje Covered Court, Capitol Road (in front of Capitol Building) in Tandag City and are open until February 23 from 8 AM to 5 PM. Globe started these services on February 22 from 1 PM to 5 PM. The telco is also ready to activate more free services in other typhoon-affected areas as the need arises.
Globe also extended relief packs to 200 families in partnership with its distributor partners.
The telco as well provides free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) http://ndrrmc.gov.ph/ for Globe and TM customers to encourage the public to get updates and news about the weather from official sources and legitimate news sites.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Auring made landfall in Batag Island in Laoang, Northern Samar, at 9 am of February 22 and is moving north northwest at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) towards the Albay-Sorsogon area.
