Globe further strengthened its commitment to environmental transparency by disclosing its environmental impact through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global non-profit that runs the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform. Globe has disclosed through CDP in 2020 and completed CDP’s climate change questionnaire.
The company also received a B- rating from CDP in 2020, for its commitment to continuously manage and fight climate change. CDP issues a score from A to F, depending on the organization’s environmental performance.

In 2020, 515 investors with US$106 trillion in assets and 150+ large purchasers with over US$4 trillion in procurement spend requested thousands of companies to disclose their environmental data through CDP. By completing CDP’s climate change questionnaires, Globe demonstrated the transparency and accountability vital to tracking progress toward a thriving, sustainable future.
The rise in CDP corporate disclosure, which has now reached 9,600 companies worldwide in 2020, is evidence that transparency around environmental impact is now a business norm. Building on its disclosure to CDP, Globe’s environmental sustainability covers various programs such as green network solutions, sustainable power purchasing, and carbon-neutral offices and verifiable emission reductions, rainforestation, e-waste management, marine conservation, mangrove conservation, no to single-use plastics, paperless billing, among others.
Globe puts into action its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint by actively supporting the Race To Zero global campaign spearheaded by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and COP26 Presidency and backed by the GSMA, the global mobile industry body. This activity is part of the GSMA’s bid to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to net-zero no later than 2050 through the collective efforts of all mobile network operators around the world.
Globe’s sustainability practices extend to the companies it works with. Globe’s Supplier Code of Ethics (SCOE) establishes standards of quality and business integrity and aims to ensure that human rights are preserved, operations are environmentally responsible and conducted in an ethical manner throughout its value chain.
It also operates an Environmental Management System which is compliant with ISO 14001:2015; Occupational Health and Safety ISO 45001:2018; and Business Continuity Management System ISO 22301:2012.
Likewise, Globe has deployed 6,948 Green Network Solutions such as fuel cell systems, direct current hybrid generators, free cooling systems, and lithium-ion batteries to reduce its carbon footprint while opting for renewable energy solutions like solar panels and fuel cells within its operations. A total of seven key Globe offices and sites are now running on clean energy which is a milestone for the company since it started its efforts on energy efficiency.
At the same time, the company actively advocates for rainforestation and has so far contributed in the planting of endemic and native species in 148 hectares of denuded land. It also partnered with The Mead Foundation for reforestation efforts in Zambales and works with Save the Philippine Seas on best practices, innovations, and technology to help in marine conservation. Recently, it formally sealed a partnership with the Zoological Society of London in the Philippines for a five-year engagement on the rehabilitation and conservation of mangroves for the protection of coastal ecosystems.
Since 2014, Globe was able to have more than 1.2 million kilograms of e-waste recycled responsibly through a partnership with TES-AMM Philippines and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. It has also institutionalized the avoidance of Single-Use Plastics (SUP) in its offices and the reduction of paper consumption through the shift to paperless billing and automated internal processes. Through this effort, the company was able to save over 650 tons of paper, equivalent to 15,600 trees.
