Globe Installs 11 New Cell Towers, Completes 103 Sites Upgrade in Bukidnon

Globe’s aggressive network rollouts and site expansion have resulted in improved services for its customers in Bukidnon.

As of the first quarter of the year, the company was able to install 11 new cell towers in Bukidnon with at least one tower in Quezon, San Fernando, Don Carlos, Manolo Fortich, Maramag, Balingon, Libona, Pangantucan, Lantapan, and two towers in Talakag.

Globe was also able to complete 103 sites upgrade, from 3G to 4G LTE, in key locations in Bukidnon.

“It is always our commitment to improve our services which will enable us to provide best quality service to our customers not only in highly-urbanized areas but as well in other places where connectivity has become a basic essential for our kababayans. We know their concerns and we are doing our best to give them the connectivity that they deserve,” Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group, said.

The impact of the installations and site upgrades were immediately felt by its customers especially in the town of Don Carlos.

Geralden Antequin, a student and resident of Barangay San Nicolas, relies heavily on the internet for her school requirements, assignments, research, and other things she needs to accomplish.  Having good connectivity really helps her fulfill her academic requirements.

When the pandemic came late March last year and school shifted to distance learning, things became extra difficult for her since getting a signal then was already hard enough.

“Yung bahay namin kasi dalawa palapag, sa ikalawang palapag kami umaakyat tapos tinutungtong namin ang cellphone sa may bintana. Ino-on at off namin ang airplane mode para mag-kasignal.  May mga assignment ako na hindi nagagawa kasi hindi dumarating sa akin ang text. Hindi ako na-iinform na may assignment palang gagawin. Lagi na lang ako naiiwan kasi wala talaga ako narereceive na text galing sa kanila (her teachers),” she said.

Fortunately for Antequin, her barangay was among the locations where Globe installed a new tower in the province. The development enabled Antequin and her ka-barangays to experience better call, SMS and data browsing services since October last year.

“Kahit nasa unang palapag lang kami ng bahay ang lakas na ng signal. Napakasimple na ngayon. Napakadali na dumating ng mga information. Ngayon anytime kahit saan ko ilagay ang cellphone ko connected na ako. Malaking tulong ito sa mga kababayan ko at mga estudyante kasi nagagamit nila sa online class, yung mga modules at sa pag research,” she explained.

Antequin likewise thanked her barangay officials for supporting Globe in installing its tower in San Nicolas.

Globe’s aggressive builds and network expansion since last year have made it possible for customers to elevate their call, SMS, and data browsing experience.

To enjoy these improved services, customers in Bukidnon who are still using 3G SIM cards should upgrade to 5G-ready 4G LTE SIMs now.  Agustin assures customers, who will switch to the new standard of mobile data, will keep their old numbers when they do so.  If quarantine protocols in their respective areas allow, customers can  go to the nearest Globe Store to change their SIM cards for FREE.   For more information, read the FAQs.
