Empowered Women in the Workplace behind Asticom’s Growth

Empowering women in the workplace often results in better job performance and a stronger commitment to the organization. This has been proven at the Asticom Group of Companies, whose female leaders have contributed significantly to the continued growth and success of the shared services group.

This Women’s Month, Asticom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globe, celebrates and acknowledges the impact of its female leaders in helping improve the lives of Filipinos.  Their wealth of expertise and experience has allowed the company to support businesses and create more opportunities for Filipinos.

At Asticom, women play a pivotal and central role, starting with Mharicar Castillo-Reyes at its helm as Group President and CEO. The group also boasts of several women occupying leadership positions across its different subsidiaries.

Among them are Mel Tecson, General Manager of Asti Business Services Inc. (ABSI) and Managing Director of HCX Technology Partners Inc.; Billie Sauco, Business Development Head of ABSI; Marites Domingo, Finance Head; Leah Reyes, HR Head of FINSI; and in Asticom Technology Inc., there’s Lailani Pableo, Client Services Manager in IT, Louie Umali, Finance Manager, and Gigi Trinidad, Billing and Collections Manager.

Many others hold supervisory and managerial positions in various departments and teams including IT, Marketing, Recruitment, Human Resources, Finance, Client Services, and Business Development.

“As a leader and a woman, you should be confident of your strengths. You are capable of achieving great things when you take ownership of your skills and capabilities. There are no boundaries when it comes to making a lasting impact,” said Reyes.

Aside from promoting gender equality, Asticom prides itself as a company that continuously pushes for diversion and inclusion. The group makes a conscious effort to diversify its workforce.

Being a business that welcomes people of different genders, ethnicities, age, disabilities, sexual orientation, and cultural backgrounds, Asticom has achieved several milestones since its inception.

Led by Reyes, Asticom launched three new subsidiaries in 2021 alone: ABSI, FINSI, and BRAD Warehouse and Logistics Services, Inc. Later in the same year, it acquired HR and Digital Solutions provider HCX Technology Partners Inc.

Likewise, Asticom has reached the P2-billion revenue mark in just six years of operations. It currently serves more than 150 clients from several industries and manages over 4,500 people across the group.

Asticom’s innovations and organizational best practices were not lost to prestigious local and international award-giving bodies. In 2021, it won several awards, including recognition as one of the best employers in Asia by Manage HR Network, HRD Awards Asia, and the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards. The latter award-giving body also recognized the group’s COVID-19 response as “Most Valuable Corporate Response.”

Globe supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, highlighting the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. It is committed to upholding the UN Global Compact principles and contributing to 10 UN SDGs.
