#ReinventHERoes: Globe Unites With Women Across the World Who #ChooseToChallenge
Women are known — or more pointedly, expected — to be capable of doing it all. This International Women's Day, Globe unites with women across the world who #ChooseToChallenge society's tenets and rise above social challenges. With the rise of women empowerment, her story is at the forefront of history.
Women continue to thrive as decision-makers at home, at the workplace, and in the corridors of power and public office. This gives them greater influence to effect positive change and #ReinventYourWorld - our world. That kind of attitude that breaks glass ceilings is needed so much today.
A stellar example of how Globe supports women that make the difference is Alex Eala - the first Filipina tennis player to win an ITF event since 2015 after claiming the first leg of the Rafa Nadal Academy World Tennis Tour in Manacor, Mallorca, Spain in January this year. She is also the first Filipina junior tennis player to reach the semifinals of a grand slam tournament when she made the last four of the French Open in 2020.
At the grassroots level, Globe supported 230 women sari-sari store owners by providing Load Retailer packages with LTE mobile phones and SIM starter packages. The package comes with an initial load of PHP 1,000. Areas covered by the program were Marikina City, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Quezon, Cagayan, Isabela, and Rizal.
Globe MyBusiness likewise launched #PinaypreneursPassionforDigital, a campaign that empowers women entrepreneurs and their businesses to face adversity head on. With this, a webinar in partnership with USAID SURGE entitled “Pinaypreneurs rise to the Digital Challenge” will be held on March 12 focusing on women helping women in digital transformation.
At the homefront, women at Globe form a significant part of diversity at the workplace. Globe’s workforce is 47% female, with 5 women belonging to the company's key executives. There is also a woman independent member of the Board of Directors.
Celebrating the strength of women with offers that enable their lifestyle is a testament to the telco’s thrust of creating a #GlobeOfGood. As a company at the forefront of innovation and sustainable practice, Globe leverages its technological expertise in promoting gender equality and inclusivity.
