Piso Para Sa #BagyoPH Victims: GMovies and UPSTREAM Raise Funds for Typhoon-Hit Communities

GMovies and UPSTREAM have launched a fundraising campaign that enables Filipinos to make their P1 impactful as relief support to those affected by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses, while enjoying select proudly Filipino-made classic films. This is another way to "love local" - to care for our fellow Filipinos while helping the pandemic-challenged film industry.

The 14-on-14 offer includes 14 Filipino films that may be enjoyed for 14 days, for only P1 per movie! Whether you watch all 14 moves or just one, it all goes to helping those badly hit by the devastating tandem typhoons. Proceeds will go to Ayala Foundation’s disaster response initiatives to help support the families affected by the recent calamities. Those who are interested to donate may simply go to upstream.ph to see your movie selections and you will be guided to GMovies to pay for your ticket with one click. For those who already have the GMovies mobile app, the 14 movies may be found right in the app. For the price of one ticket at P1, a film can be streamed together with the entire household.

UPSTREAM is a Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD) platform created by Filipinos, for Filipinos, and has recently launched its partnership with the country's leading digital booking platform for on-ground and online cinematic experiences, GMovies last November 14. Together, they introduced a new and affordable viewing experience to Filipinos anywhere they are in the world.

The movie line-up includes a string of classics from Regal, an entertainment firm known to produce an eclectic mix of films ranging from trendy, campy, serious, and art house:

  • Shake, Rattle and Roll 3
  • Ang Babaeng Putik
  • The Debutantes
  • Dahas

"Over the past weeks, Globe has been providing round-the-clock assistance to severely-hit communities from Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses. Aside from the company's own efforts and our employees' impressive initiatives, we continue to find ways to enable our customers to extend help any way they can, starting from the core of our services. This is a testament to our mission of creating a #GlobeofGood," shared Albert de Larrazabal, Globe’s Chief Commercial Officer.

For UPSTREAM's Dondon Monteverde, "While the country deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, two typhoons brought more death and destruction to our countrymen. Now, more than ever, every Filipino needs to lock arms in unity, strengthen our bayanihan spirit, and pour out compassion to help those devastated by the typhoons. We at UPSTREAM are one with the Filipino people in these trying times."

Moreover, UPSTREAM, in partnership with GMovies will be the exclusive streaming venue for QCinema from November 27 to December 6 and the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020 starting on December 25.  From December 7 to 24, viewers can also take a trip down memory lane as UPSTREAM shows MMFF classics and favorites leading up to this year's festival grand premiere.
