Globe Enables Online Learning for Oriental Mindoro Students With Pre-Loaded SIM Cards
Providing the extra push so that no student is left behind in the province, Globe recently donated at least 10,230 SIM cards worth P6 million to Grade 12 students of Oriental Mindoro.
The Globe SIM cards, pre-loaded with free 5 Gigabytes data allocation for one month, will be distributed to public school students along with tablets procured by the provincial government as the whole province adapts to blended learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor accepted the donation from Jeanette Alquizor, Globe Head of Regional Site Acquisition Management Team, in a simple turnover ceremony at the Provincial Capitol in Calapan.
“We are happy with our partnership with Globe. These SIM cards will greatly help our students, in a very big way, with their studies and in cases of emergency too. Equally important is that these will also help ease the pressure on our parents to provide their children with SIM cards and load allocations,” Dolor said.
The SIM cards will be given to learners of 16 public schools in the province that include Baco National High School (NHS), Basa NHS, Vicente B. Ylagan NHS, Bulalacao NHS, President Diosdado Macapagal Memorial NHS, Fe Del Mundo NHS, Porfirio G. Comia MNHS, Evangelista NHS, Nabuslot NHS, Domingo Yu Chua NHS, Puerto Galera NHS, San Mariano NHS, San Teodoro NHS, Leuteboro NHS, Aurelio Arago MNHS, and Oriental Mindoro NHS.
“We know how important it is for students especially in the remote areas of the province to have the necessary tools as they adjust to the demands of online learning. By providing them with connectivity, these students of Oriental Mindoro will have a valuable start in their continuing pursuit of knowledge and education,” Jeanette D. Alquizor, Globe Head of Regional Site Acquisition & Management, said.
Globe continues to support education through connectivity in areas covered by the Department of Education as it champions the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal of providing Quality Education for all.
