Registering their employees for government services, such as PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG, aren’t only foundational for any business, but they’re mandated by law; they’re social welfare services that serve as necessary safeguards for any business.
The Importance of PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG
PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG help businesses operate legally. As formalized in RA 7875, PhilHealth is a government-owned corporation that provides mandatory health insurance coverage and benefits. Under RA 7835 just as well, the government requires employers to register and contribute to the Pag-IBIG Fund so that their employees can be made eligible for property loans with the lowest interest rate.
So how can you sign up for these services? Ahead, we detail the process of securing your PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG employer numbers.
How to Register Your Business with PhilHealth
1. Download the Employer Data Record (E1 Form) directly from the PhilHealth website.
2. Fill in all the necessary fields.
3. Prepare your business permit and other necessary documents. Requirements may vary depending on business type (kindly refer to the list below):
- Single Proprietorship: DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) Registration
- Partnerships and Corporations: SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) Registration
- Non-Profit Organizations: SEC Registration
- Cooperatives: CDA (Cooperative Development Authority) Registration
- Micro-Businesses: Barangay Certificate and Mayor’s Permit
4. Upon processing, PhilHealth will issue your company’s PhilHealth Employer Number (PEN) and Certificate of Registration (COR), as well as your registered employees’ PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN) and Member Data Record (MDR)
5. With the exception of household employers, businesses must display their Certificate of Registration in a noticeable area of their offices.
How to Register Your Business for Pag-IBIG
1. Have the following documents at the ready:
- SSS (Social Security System) Certificate
- SSS R1 and/or SSS-R1 A and SSS R3
- Proof of Business Ownership
- Specimen Signature
2. Depending on your type of business, collect the additional requirements below as well:
a. Sole Proprietorship
- DTI COR
- Business Permit
- BIR COR (2303)
b. Partnerships and Corporations
- SEC Certificate
- Approved Articles of Partnership
- Board Resolution with Authorized Signatories
- Business Permit
- BIR COR (2303)
3. Download and print the Employer’s Data Form (EDF) and Membership Savings Remittance Form (MSRF) from Pag-IBIG online. Fill out all the necessary fields. Do note that for the MSRF form, you will need to input the Pag-IBIG Member ID (MID) number of your employees.
4. Head to the nearest Pag-IBIG branch and submit the EDF and MSRF forms and other requirements for verification. Here, you will be given a printed copy of your EDF containing the Registration Tracking Number (RTN). Remember: The RTN is essential when paying for the monthly contributions while you haven’t received your employer ID number.
5. You will receive the certificate of your employer ID number once you’ve attended the seminar they’ve assigned to you.
Applying for either or both services requires physical attendance at the establishments to complete the process, so make sure to follow health and safety protocols at all times. Practicing social distancing, adopting good hygiene practices, and wearing a face mask will ensure your safety amid public exposure.
