Ladies and gents, prepare to feel old

Sometimes, being old is measured by the realization that your youngest cousin has graduated college and is now looking for a job. Sometimes, the idea of age comes crashing down when you feel yourself leaning towards a relaxing night in than a walwal night out. But today, we’re reminded by the fact that some of our favorite movies are turning 10 years old in 2018 (which is now, by the way—just in case you needed some reminding).

Deep breathes now.

27 Dresses

The concept of “Always the bride’s maid, never the bride” was a funny one to watch when Katherine Heigl was starring as Jane Nichols. But with the engagement photos making the rounds and wedding invites needing to be RSVPed, the saying has never been truer for us.

Camp Rock

The movie may be completely cringe-worthy now, but don’t even deny that once upon a time, you shipped Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas. The songs are cemented into our brains for one reason and one reason only: We watched this film and listened to its music close to a hundred times.

The Dark Knight

In the second chapter of The Batman Trilogy, we were introduced to Heath Ledger as the Joker. We know you remember the fearful makeup, the menacing laugh and the brilliant lies; we know every actor that suits up as the Joker will forever be compared to him—and we know it will take mountains of talent to ever come close.

Definitely, Maybe

It may be hard to forget someone you were once in a relationship with, but Ryan Reynold’s Will Hayes proved to us that sometimes the most meaningful and worthwhile romances are the ones that just slipped our fingers. That, and when you continue to hold onto something—or someone—you do so for a reason.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

That’s right, it’s been ten years since Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan and the rest of the Wildcats donned those red and white graduation robes. An entire decade has passed since Take my hand, take a breath/Pull me close and take one step and I just wanna be with you.

Pineapple Express

Sometimes, trouble just finds you—no matter how chill and unassuming you are. And when you put James Franco and Seth Rogen in that exact situation (and mix in something illegal), there are laughs all around, even if we’ve already had ten years of rewatching to do.

Sex And The City

There once was a girl named Carrie Bradshaw, who lived the New York life better than almost anyone. She flourished in her career, made a name for herself in fashion and had a shoe closet that everyone envied. But ten years ago, she taught us a very important lesson: That fairytales are fictional and you need to make things happen for yourself—with the support of a few great friends, of course.

The House Bunny

Whoever still thinks a woman has to choose between beauty and intelligence, seriously needs to (re)watch this movie, have a good laugh and learn something new. And for the rest of us that live in this century, it’s just a great thing to see a young Emma Stone and Kat Dennings steal a few scenes.

Twilight

The love story of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen will go down in history as one of the biggest guilty pleasures of an entire generation. And while the books were devoured by teenage girls everywhere, the first film in the saga was what really put the characters in the limelight.

WALL-E

Forget about the dystopian worlds of Maze Runner, The Hunger Games and Divergent because Pixar did it best with WALL-E. Who would have thought that world’s attention could be grabbed by a budding love story between two silent robots and the possibility of human extinction via laziness?

Amazing how time flies, huh?
