4 Things You May Not Have Known About Guardians of The Galaxy

There’s more to it than meets the eye

Thanks to its colorful cast, well-placed comedy and great musical editing, Guardians Of The Galaxy has quickly become one of the most popular Marvel franchises. It was practically a sure thing that Vol. 2 would be the success it’s proving out to be.

We promise, no spoilers here.

The MCU team does not include any of the original characters.

Instead of going the traditional way and incorporating the mascot of a franchise to the film—think Steve Rogers for Captain America—Marvel did not include any of the original Guardians members in the film. So instead of having Major Victory, Martinex T’Naga, Aleta, Nikki and Starhawk, Marvel decided to jump straight to their most marketable bets: Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket and Drax.

Ronan’s ship is massive.

It’s impossible not to note how huge Ronan The Accuser’s ship, The Dark Aster, is. It’s made of so many parts that can attach, detach and work on its own. And if you want an image of that, just imagine 11 Empire State Buildings set side to side. Yup, that’s around 15,994 feet.

Sean Gunn was actually part of the first film.

Sean Gunn plays the role of Kraglin Obfonteri, who is integral in the Guardian’s plans. But while his character makes his debut in the sequel, Sean was actually an important part of the first movie. During filming, Bradley Cooper (who voices Rocket) was unable to be on set. So director James Gunn asked his brother to put on a tight green onesie to act out the motion-capture scenes of Rocket.

Chris Pratt has admitted that Baby Groot is the star.

We know you remember dancing Baby Groot from the first Guardians Of The Galaxy, as well as Baby Groot with legs in the trailers of Vol. 2. Trust us when we say you’ll remember him for so much more because of the film. He’s adorable, angry and it’s hard to focus on anyone else. James has even recalled Chris saying “Damn it, he’s going to steal the whole movie.”

#SorryNotSorry, but we really couldn’t agree more.
