6 Albums We Can’t Wait to Stream: March 2021

The new month ushers in new Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez and more

March followed a pretty great, jam-packed month, especially for new music. But this being the first of summer and all, it likewise comes with its own slew of noteworthy music events. The Netflix documentary Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell set the month in motion. Fast-forward two weeks to March 12 and BLACKPINK’s Rosé gets to debut her solo project. The Grammys take place on March 14. And on March 16, Super Junior is set to drop House Party, the title track from their 10th studio album, The Renaissance.

Between these events, of course, are the new albums that pepper the month. And in March, there are a ton of highly-anticipated releases to look forward to. Ahead, just six that we can’t wait to stream on Spotify.

"When You See Yourself " by Kings of Leon

Like a lot of artists in 2020, American rock band Kings of Leon found themselves pushing back plans. Their eighth studio album, When You See Yourself, was originally set for a March 2020 release. And exactly a year later, it finally gets to see the light of day. “It’s been a long wait sitting on this music, and it’s always difficult knowing that you have something that you’re really excited for everyone to get to hear, and then being told you have to sit on it for a minute was tough,” drummer Nathan Followill tells American Singer. “But it also gave us a chance to live with it for a little while, and it’s still just as fresh today as it was on the first listen.”

After giving fans a preview of Going Nowhere last year, their first new song in over three years, Kings of Leon went on to drop the two lead singles from When You See Yourself: The Bandit and 100,000 People. The full album is yours to listen to on March 5.

"Poster Girl" by Zara Larsson

Swedish singer-songwriter Zara Larsson is about to introduce fans to a new era. After the release of her sophomore studio album So Good four years ago, the 23-year-old behind hits like Lush Life and All the Time returns with brand new music. 

With her upcoming 12-track dance-pop album Poster Girl, Larsson brings with her a clearer vision for where she wants to take her music. A common theme that ties her new songs together? Love. “Oh my gosh, [Poster Girl is] super loved up!” she tells NME. “I love to write about love, and I love talking about love. I think I’m obsessed with love. Literally.”

Poster Girl drops March 5.

"Chemtrails Over the Country Club" by Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s Chemtrails Over the Country Club is yet another delayed but hotly anticipated March 2021 album. After dropping hints and teasers beginning in January, Del Rey has proceeded to zero in on one particular track to count down to her album release: the Jack Antonoff-produced opener, White Dress. 

Apart from launching Chemtrails Over the Country Club, her seventh studio album, the American singer-songwriter is using 2021 to explore a new but familiar genre: country. The release date of this second album has yet to be announced.

Chemtrails Over the Country Club drops on March 19.

"Revelación" by Selena Gomez

As a follow-up to her third full-length album, Rare, Selena Gomez is marking a milestone this year with Revelación, this being her first-ever all-Spanish EP. But there’s something else that’s unique about it, too: As reported by Billboard, Revelación was recorded almost entirely via Zoom due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

In her Vevo Footnotes video, meanwhile, Gomez breaks down some tracks from the album like De Una Vez. “[It] was one of the first songs I worked on pretty early on,” she says. “At the time, doing a Spanish project was just an idea being bounced around. Then the rest of the project just kind of happened really quickly and organically.”

Selena Gomez’s Revelación is available on March 12.

"Spaceman" by Nick Jonas

The third Jonas brother is on the press tour route once again. On the SNL stage in late February, he debuted two songs from his forthcoming studio album Spaceman. If the title track Spaceman and This Is Heaven tell us anything, it’s that a lineup of mellowed-out pop ballads is in the cards. Fans can expect to catch feelings, too. “Most of the songs are pretty much just love letters,” Jonas tells USA Today. “When I can’t articulate the way I feel with my words with no music, I go to the studio.”

Spaceman drops on March 12.

"The Bitter Truth" by Evanescence

March ends strong with rock band Evanescence and The Bitter Truth. Released by BMG Rights Management and produced by Nick Raskulinecz, this is the fifth studio album of the celebrated act behind hits like Bring Me To Life and My Immortal.

The latest project is a departure from anything the band, fronted by singer Amy Lee, has produced. “When making a complete album, especially after all this time, I always want to just put out a statement, like, ‘This is where we're at, this is who we are’—it has to be a whole spectrum of emotions and reflections that make up who you are, who the band is,” she shares with Blabbermouth.net. “So far, I feel like each song that we put out is a very different color of the spectrum and there are more colors yet to come, for sure.”

The Bitter Truth drops March 26.
