5 Albums We Can’t Wait to Stream: December 2021

Get your fill of fresh 2021 tracks before we close out the year!

Welcome to the final stretch, audiophiles! Just like that: 2021 will soon be over…but not before the albums ahead hit streaming platforms. This only means there’s still a lot of great music to listen out for in December, so don’t count the month out. Granted that Holiday playlists are top-of-mind this month, artists like Arca and Alicia Keys will still be around to fill the gaps and offer up new music worthy of a place in your year-ender playlists.

Scroll through and get to know the five albums we cannot wait to stream in December 2021.

"kick iiii" by Arca

Venezuelan artist Alejandra Ghersi, better known as Arca, is our go-to this month for all-new dance/electronic music. As a follow-up to Kick II in November and Kick III from December 1, she’s keeping the ball rolling with kick iiii.

kick iiii is an entry of sensual charge in the cycle,” she shares in an Instagram post. “My own faith made into song, a posthuman celestial sparkle, psychosexual pulse-width modulation, queering the void, abyss alchemically transmuted into a deconstruction of what is beautiful, it is a healing spell, recognition of the alien inside, a bursting apart of old skin, fresh new sinew rippling outward from a beating core, the first prenatal kick—proof that there is a sentience with a will beyond its creators’ control expressing itself from within the womb.”

Listen to ‘kick iiii’ by Arca when it hits all major streaming platforms on December 3.

"It’s All Smiles" by No Rome

London-based Filipino musician No Rome has made his fair share of well-loved hits and successful collaborations; it’s strange to consider he’s yet to release a debut studio album. That time has finally come for the Seventeen singer as It’s All Smiles drops December 3.

In an interview with DIY Mag, he shares: “I’ve been making my album for a long time now, but I guess 2020 was where it just made sense to sit down and finish it up.” The pandemic project, he said, is the meeting of tracks kept under wraps—some from 2019 and even as far back as 2016. He adds: “I wanted to capture whatever inspired me currently and just the natural inspiration from music I grew up listening to.”

Singles from the album “When She Comes Around” and “I Want U” have so far been well-received. Stay tuned and stream ‘It’s All Smiles’ by No Rome beginning December 3.

""Scenic Drive by Khalid

R&B and Soul artist Khalid is here to end his three-year break from full projects (which was only interrupted intermittently by singles and collaborations). The 23-year-old singer-songwriter returns this month with Scenic Drive, a mixtape and follow-up to his 2019 album Free Spirit. “I’m so excited for everyone to hear this and live with it,” he shares on Instagram. “I’m always nervous to release new music, but [I] can honestly say this is a project I’ll hold close to my heart forever.”

According to Complex, ‘Scenic Drive’ acts as a companion piece to Khalid’s 2018 EP ‘Sun City.’ Be sure to stream the mixtape when it drops December 3.

"Nonante-Cinq" by Angèle

Language barriers are of no consequence when it comes to Belgian singer Angèle. Her 2018 debut studio album Brol had a universal, energetic appeal to its pop sound, which was met with critical acclaim. Nonante-Cinq (Ninety-Five in English) is looking to replicate that as the artist’s sophomore studio album. In late October, she released her lead single Bruxelles je t’aime (“Brussels I love you”) to tease the full 12-track project.

Stream ‘Nonante-Cinq’ by Angèle when it hits platforms on December 10.

"KEYS" by Alicia Keys

A new double album awaits listeners in December. On the 10th, multi-award-winning artist Alicia Keys is set to treat fans to two iterations of her upcoming LP KEYS, these being: Originals and Unlocked.

The Originals come from that classic side of me! It’s that AK that we WANT!! A homecoming,” she explains in an Instagram post. “The Unlocked side, I wanted to sample The Originals to create a whole other sonic experience. Together, they are a fusion of the worlds within me with the #KEYS as the main ingredient.”
