How Well Do You Know Alice?

You may think you know everything there is to know about Alice and her friends. Here are more things to add to that list before watching the upcoing movie in the silver screen.

It's been alsmost six years since we fell down the rabbit hole in TIm Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Once again, Alice steps into the imaginative world of Mad Hatter, White Queen, Cheshire Cat,  Dormouse, Tweedledum, and Tweedledee for another round of adventure in Alice Through the Looking Glass.

In this installment, Alice returns to discover Mad Hatter dying of sadness, and the whole Underland in disarray. It's now up to her to save her friend and make things right once more.

Film adaptations of a novel

While it may be common knowledge that Alice in Wonderland is based on Lewis Carroll’s 1865 book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, not a great deal know that the sequel is likewise based on a novel by the same author. The upcoming movie is loosely based on Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, which was published in 1871.

She's no child!

In both movies we see a teenage Alice grow up to be a headstrong young adilt. However, in Carroll''s books, Alice is is a curious, witty, and imaginative young girl who falls down a rabbit hole.

Independent woman

Set in England during the Victorian era, women are expected to be a "proper lady". Alice break the sterotype by being strong and independent, captaining her own ship and traveling the world. Speaking of girl-power, she shows women can be just as successful—despite objections from people and society. Atta girl!

New friends join in on the fun

Alice Through the Looking Glass brings back all your lovable characters from the first movie, with a few new additions.  Sacha Baron Cohen plays the half-clock, half-human Time, while Rhys Ifans fill in the hsoes of the Mad Hatter’s father.

Before the curtains fall, a final performance from Alan RIckman

Veteran actor Alan Rickman, widely known to the younger generation for his role as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series,  is the voice behind the character of Absolem, the oracle-like, caterpillar-turned-butterfly character. The award-winning actor passed away earlier this year. Alice Through the Looking Glass is his last role in a movie, which is dedicated in his memory.
