It’s equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savegery

If you haven’t seen or heard of Atomic Blonde, it’s a spy thriller that’s set to knock your socks off with its ageless plot, the female cast’s badassery and old school-ish cinematography. Based on Antony Johnston’s The Coldest City, Atomic Blonde follows the story of undercover MI6 agent Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron) who is sent to Cold War era Berlin to investigate the murder of a fellow agent. If that doesn’t sound exciting enough for you, here’s why else we’re excited about the movie.

The future is female.

The future indeed is female as more and more films today feature a woman in the lead role. No longer are the ladies seen as just a man’s love interest but as a central character worth making an entire movie about. And who better to star in a girl power movie better than Charlize Theron?

Charlize Theron is a woman that commands respect and attention whether on or off screen. She’s done movies that have moved us to tears, made us laugh and helped us find courage. This time around, the actress is kicking major ass in super spy fashion.

We’re talking James McAvoy, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Toby Jones and Sofia Boutella. Also if you’ve seen the trailer, you’ll know there’s some steamy queer action that adds a provocateur feel to the movie.

Who doesn’t love a spy movie?

A top-level spy is dispatched to Berlin on the eve of the collapse of the Berlin Wall to take down an espionage ring that has killed another agent. With the help of Berlin station chief David Percival (James McAvoy), Lorraine navigates her way through a deadly game of double agentry to stay alive and, you know, save the world.
