Avengers: Infinity War Trailer 2 Woes: Thor, Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Captain America Are In Trouble
Thanos seems to be raining down on four of our favorites in the MCU
Around three months ago, Marvel allowed us our first look at the highly-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War. It promised plenty of destruction, a necessary reunion and finally some action from Thanos himself. It was eerie and painfully painted the Avengers as the world’s heroes and as humanity’s last remaining line of security.

Then Marvel dropped another one over the weekend and sent us all in a spiral. The second trailer left everyone in a panic, not because it showed scenes we weren’t expecting, but because it proved its point: Our heroes are in big trouble.
To be more specific, Thor, Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Captain America are going to get really close and personal with Thanos and Ebony Maw.

Thanos’ hand crushing the head of Odinson, Tony Stark’s look of exhaustion and his suit almost completely destroyed, Doctor Strange seriously getting messed with and Captain America barely holding it together under the Infinity Gauntlet—even just a few seconds of these scenes got our hearts racing and our minds concocting theories.
Is Marvel trying to get us ready for the deaths we never want to see?
The quick answer is yes, as Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told Entertainment Weekly. Without actually saying so, Feige vaguely confirmed that there are “big ones” on the chopping block and that “people need to be careful what they wish for.”

The second trailer seemingly shows trouble for Thor, Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Captain America, but the actual feasibility of their deaths is still unknown. From a storytelling standpoint, it can be argued that the stories of Steve Roger and Tony Stark have been thoroughly told. Doctor Strange, with just one film under his belt, meanwhile looks poised for more chapters to come. Thor, who is also a veteran member of the MCU, is more likely to suffer the death of his brother Loki than his own.
Other heroes we’re worried about? Vision (because he is Mind Stone), Nebula (because she’s recklessly out for blood) and Hawkeye (for the simple fact that he hasn’t shown up in either of the trailers).

Whatever happens in Avengers: Infinity War, we know one other thing for sure: It’s going to hit the nail that marks the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. Feige told Vanity Fair that the yet-to-be-named Avengers 4 will “[bring] things you’ve never seen in superhero films: A finale.”
His statement, while still vague, confirms that the next two films on the Avengers will split the MCU into two particular periods—the time before Avengers 4 and the time after it.
