Through The Years: The Best Of Paramore

Our high school hearts still memorize every line

There are very few bands that helped shaped the teenage years of an entire generation. And while we all had our preferences, one collective favorite would have to be Paramore. They were there when we had our hearts broken for the first time (or so we thought) and they were there when we were angry and frustrated at the world (for reasons we no longer remember).

But while we’ve all grown up since and have been forced to embrace the struggles of #Adulting, Paramore still holds a solid place in our hearts – which, by the way, still memorize every lyric of possibly every song.

Pressure (2005)

Cause I fear I might break

And I fear I can’t take it

Tonight I’ll lie awake feeling empty

I can feel the pressure

It’s getting closer now

We’re better off without you

crushcrushcrush (2007)

They taped over your mouth

Scribbled out the truth with their lies

Your little spies

Crush, crush, crush, crush, crush

One, two, three, four

Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone

Just the one two of us counting on

Misery Business (2007)

I watched his wildest dreams come true

Not one of them involving you

Just watch my wildest dreams come true

Not one of them involving

Whoa, I never meant to brag

But I got him where I want him now

That’s What You Get (2007)

I drowned out all my sense with the sound of its beating

And that’s what you get when you let your heart win

I wonder, how am I supposed to feel when you’re not here

Cause I burned every bridge I ever built when you were here

I still try holding on to silly things, I never learn

When It Rains (2007)

And when it rains, you always find an escape

Just running away

From all of the ones who love you

From everything

You made yourself a bed at the bottom

Of the blackest hole

And you’ll sleep till May

You’ll say that you don’t wanna see the sun anymore

Decode (2008)

How did we get here?

When I used to know you so well

How did we get here?

Well, I think I know how

The truth is hiding in your eyes

And it’s hanging on your tongue

Just boiling in my blood

Ignorance (2009)

Well, you treat me just like another stranger

Well, it’s nice to meet you, sir

I guess I’ll go

I best be on my way out

Ignorance is your new best friend

Ignorance is your new best friend

The Only Exception (2009)

Maybe I know, somewhere deep in my soul

That love never lasts

And we’ve got to find other ways to make it alone

But keep a straight face

And I’ve always lived like this

Keeping a comfortable distance

And up until now I had sworn to myself that I’m content

With loneliness

Ain’t It Fun (2013)

So what are you gonna do

When the world don’t orbit around you

So what are you gonna do

When nobody wants to fool with you

Ain’t it fun

Living in the real world?

Ain’t it good

Being all alone?

Hard Times (2017)

Where do I go?

Gimme some sort of sign

You hit me with lightning

Maybe I’ll come alive

Hard times

Gonna make you wonder why you even try

We know that took you back and we don’t blame you in the slightest. Each song is nostalgic and reminiscent of an angst-ridden time but is not the least bit cringe worthy – although our teenage winged liners definitely were.
