Watch Netflix’s Kingdom and Other Binge-worthy Shows and Movies this Month

There’s something to see on every platform––best enjoyed with fast, reliable internet connection from Globe At Home

Few things are as exciting as having a new year’s worth of content. January marks a clean slate in more ways than one: it’s time to leave behind those toxic relationships, unfinished business, half-watched series and slept-on movies. Instead, it’s time to start fresh. There’s no better time to pick up a new favorite show, to give a new genre a shot or to fall in love with an oldie-but-goodie movie that you haven’t had the chance to watch yet.

Lucky for you entertainment buffs, Netflix, DisneyLife, Fox+,  and HOOQ are all serving up binge-worthy shows and movies. Between zombies in a historical era, a tale of a friendly dragon and the somber tale of a couple in love, there’s definitely something for every kind of viewer out there. Keep reading to discover which titles you should be putting at the top of your “to watch” list!

Netflix

Netflix is pushing some long-awaited content out this month with the release of Kingdom. Set to be Netflix’s first Korean original drama, Kingdom isn’t your usual K-drama romance. In fact, it falls rather far away from your run-of-the-mill Korean shows we’re used to. Spicing up Korean history with one heck of a wild card, Kingdom tells the tale of a crown prince who is sent to investigate a mysterious plague which may or may not be related to a zombie epidemic.

DisneyLife

DisneyLife’s highlight title of the month is the kind of story that is bound to spark up the wonder in all of us. Pete’s Dragon, true to its title, follows the adventures Pete and his dragon friend Elliott. An 11-year-old orphan boy, Pete was rescued by Elliott when he was chased into the woods by a pack of wolves after losing his parents to an unfortunate accident. Despite the balance the two companions have found, things are set off balance when the rest of the town discovers their little secret.

HOOQ

Can love truly heal all wounds? Bela Padilla and JC Santos beg the question in local film The Day After Valentine’s. Equal parts beautiful and heart-wrenching, the flick tells the story of a woman who helps her loved one get out of a self-destructive spiral. No fast-paced developments and diving into whirlwind romances here—The Day After Valentine’s is a slow burning showpiece through and through.

Fox+

Say hello to the first of four grand slam tennis tournaments this year. The Australian Open returned with a vengeance this year, serving up even more action and andrenaline than tournaments past. Relive the 2019 Australian Open and stream other monumental sports events only on Fox+.
