Counting Down to the ‘Birds of Prey’ Premiere: Where Else You Might Have Seen Its Cast Members

Get ready to meet the new squad from the DC Extended Universe

It’s time to leave behind any and all hang-ups over Suicide Squad, because there’s a new ensemble cast in town. Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set to hit theaters on February 6 and introduces Harley Quinn’s new posse equipped with its own unique, utterly chaotic brand of justice.

The first DC film to make waves in 2020, the female-directed flick turns its attention to the once hopelessly lovestruck, psychiatrist-turned-proper-psychopath Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) following her breakup with the Joker (Jared Leto). This brand-new chapter sees her turning over a new leaf—adopting pet hyenas Bud and Lou, butting heads with an evil crime lord and inciting anarchy all included.

Who else is set to star alongside Robbie in the highly-anticipated Suicide Squad spin-off? Meet the female heroes and villains of the DC Extended Universe right below.

Margot Robbie

Harley Quinn

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know that Australian actress Margot Robbie has become one of Hollywood’s newest trailblazers, hitting the ground running with Focus in 2015 (where she appeared with fellow Suicide Squad actor Will Smith) and going on to star in I, Tonya, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood and most recently, the biographical drama Bombshell.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Helena Bertinelli/ Huntress

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World fans know her as Ramona Flowers, but other identifiers include: Lucy MccLane, daughter of John (Bruce Willis), in the Die Hard movies, Ingrid Superstar in Factory Girl and Nikki Swango in the 2017 television series Fargo. Watch Winstead’s portrayal of the Huntress, Gotham City’s purple-clad vigilante, as this DC Universe anti-hero makes her big screen debut next month.

Ella Jay Basco

Cassandra Cain/ Batgirl

Korean-Filipino actress Ella Jay Basco is shaping up to be the up-and-comer to watch thanks to Birds of Prey. While the upcoming film is the 13-year-old’s first major movie project, she has laid the ground work in television, making cameos in series like Grey’s Anatomy, Veep and Teachers. Watch her in a snippet of Grey’s Anatomy’s chilling “Perfect Storm” episode below:

Jurnee Smollett-Bell

Dinah Lance/ Black Canary

If the name Jurnee Smollett-Bell rings a bell or if her face looks at all familiar, it’s because this American actress has had her fair share of screen time. Smollett-Bell played Jess Merriweather in the Emmy Award-winning television series Friday Night Lights and went on to appear in the supernatural HBO original series True Blood. Rewinding all the way back to the ‘90s, she got her start as Denise Frazer, schoolmate and friend to Michelle Tanner (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen), in the family-friendly classic Full House.

Rosie Perez

Renee Montoya

Actress Rosie Perez’s résumé is as expansive as they get: In the ‘80s, she was as a regular dancer on the music-dance television program Soul Train and made her acting debut in Spike Lee’s drama-comedy Do the Right Thing. The 55-year-old has also appeared on Broadway, taken on a hosting job sitting behind the desk of The View with Rosie O'Donnell and Whoopi Goldeberg and made a cameo in Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die.

Chris Messina

Victor Zsasz

Another television series veteran with an extensive film and TV history, Chris Messina seems to have done it all: comedy, biographical drama, action-adventure, fantasy and romance. He played Detective Richard Willis in the HBO mini-series Sharp Objects, the lovable doctor Danny Castellano in The Mindy Project and the antagonist Reese Lansing in Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom. Over on the big screen, Messina has appeared in Argo, Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Julie & Julia.

Ewan McGregor

Black Mask

Before getting to know Scottish actor Ewan McGregor as the crime-lord-to-beat Black Mask, a trip down memory lane: Star Wars fans from the ‘90s know him as young Obi-Wan Kenobi; meanwhile, Stanley Kubrick and Mike Flanagan fans know him as Dan Torrance from Doctor Sleep. Lovers of the movie musical will always and forever know him, though, as Christian, the English writer who falls desperately in love with Satine (Nicole Kidman), the star courtesan of the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Here’s a throwback to the multi-award-winning film from 2001:
