5 Seasons and Counting—Here Are The Top 5 Black Mirror Episodes You Should Watch Now

It’s time to binge-watch the dark sci-fi anthology—just in time for the new season

Welcome to the multiverse of Black Mirror, the dismal British sci-fi anthology series, which will make you question your very existence. Considered The Twilight Zone of present-day, it will guarantee to make you rethink social constructs and keenly observe how you interact with technology—is it a friend or a foe?

Overwhelmed by the volume of episodes in Black Mirror? We’re highlighting 5 must-watch episodes from the Emmy-winning series.

RELATED: Here’s Why You Should Watch Black Mirror Now

1. Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (Season 5, Episode 3)

A friendless 15-year-old girl courses through a solitary teenage life and finds solace in Ashley Too, a motivational AI doll, which is a prototype of pop sensation Ashley O (played by real-life superstar Miley Cyrus). Unbeknownst to many, she lives a hollow—borderline depressed—existence. Giving you Hannah Montana flashbacks, this is Black Mirror’s take on a “feel-good” episode, veering away from usually bleak stand-alone dramas. Watch it for entertainment, or for nostalgia’s sake—plus, the music’s real catchy, too.

2. Nose Dive (Season 3, Episode 1)

We’ve all fallen prey to the inescapable perils of social media. Our obsession has gotten out of hand, navigating through a digital world with likes and follows as social currency—literally. Lacie, portrayed by the remarkable Bryce Dallas Howard of Jurassic Park fame, desperately tries to appease her community in a dystopian future where one’s treatment is fully dependent on a real-life rating system. The 63-minute long spectacle—reminiscent of Nicole Kidman’s The Stepford Wives—affirms our human *need* to belong and our unhealthy relationship with technology.

3. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

Remember the choose-your-own-adventure novels you had in the past? Bandersnatch, the full-length feature from Black Mirror will completely change the way you view entertainment television. For starters, the viewer gets to be at the helm with the ability to choose the ending—with just one click. Yes or no? Sugar Puffs or Frosties? Thompson Twins or Now 2? There are no right or wrong answers. Are you indecisive? Don’t fret, you can keep trying other outcomes until you satisfy your heart’s desires; patience is key.

PSA: The 80’s themed soundtrack is pretty epic, too.

4. The Entire History of You (Season 1, Episode 3)

If you could go back in time and relive the past, would you? In The Entire History of You, a state-of-the-art memory implant records a plethora of memories—what you see, hear and do. A young man suspects his partner of cheating and obsessively replays one recording after the other, which eventually leads to his own despair.

5. Black Museum (Season 4, Episode 6)

Black Mirror is notorious for featuring a sequence of stories—connected or not—in one episode. In Black Museum, Letitia Wright of Marvel’s 2018 hit superhero movie Black Panther, ends up in an abandoned roadside museum on the desert in the middle of nowhere. The peculiar owner gives her a personal tour and displays his sadistic side. Viewer discretion is advised, I mean it.
