Celebrity Cameos On Friends You Might Have Already Forgotten About

The one where your mind is blown

There are many, many reasons why Friends is a great show: It preserved the 90s to a tee, it normalized things like same-sex partnerships and May-December romances and it had one of the best groups of characters in TV history. But while we’ll never forget Chandler’s jokes, Monica’s tidiness, Ross’ science facts, Joey’s pickup lines, Phoebe’s music and Rachel’s fashion, we’re guilty about forgetting something else that made the show so amazing: Its cameos.

George Clooney as the doctor who helps Rachel with her sprain

The One With Two Parts: Part 2 (Season 1, Episode 17)

Fun fact: Rachel and Monica were committing insurance fraud.

Julia Roberts as Chandler’s vengeful ex-schoolmate

The One After The Superbowl: Part 2 (Season 2, Episode 13)

Fun fact: Julia Robert’s character told Chandler to “Call her in 20 years” to see if he was still upset over the bathroom incident. 20 years from the airing of that episode would have been in 2016.

Ben Stiller as Rachel’s angry date

The One With The Screamer (Season 3, Episode 22)

Fun fact: Chandler and Joey’s chick “doodied” on Tommy’s hand.

Robin Williams and Billy Crystal as friends-sleeping-with-the-same-woman

The One With The Ultimate Fighting Champion (Season 3, Episode 24)

Fun fact: Robin Williams and Billy Crystal’s scene was completely by chance. They were filming near the set of Friends and the writers asked if the two wanted to make a guest appearance.

Richard Branson as the London seller

The One With Ross’s Wedding: Part One (Season 4, Episode 23)

Fun fact: This scene took forever to finish because Richard Branson couldn’t remember his lines. Can’t blame him though, he came to set straight from a meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel!

Hugh Laurie as Rachel’s frustrated plane seatmate

The One With Ross’s Wedding: Part 2 (Season 4, Episode 24)

Fun fact: We agree that storming to Ross' wedding was a bad move on Rachel’s part.

Reese Witherspoon as Jill and Christina Applegate as Amy

The One With Rachel’s Sister (Season 6, Episode 13) and The One With Rachel’s Other Sister (Season 9, Episode 8)

The One With Ross’s Teeth (Season 6, Episode 8)

Fun fact: Phoebe thought she made out with Ralph Lauren, but it was actually Kenny copy guy.

Susan Sarandon as drink-throwing Jessica Lockhart

The One With Joey’s New Brain (Season 7, Episode 15)

Fun fact: Susan Sarandon was part of Ross’ list of celebrities he could sleep with when he was dating Rachel in Season 3.

Winona Ryder as Rachel’s one wild night

The One With Rachel’s Big Kiss (Season 7, Episode 20)

Fun fact: Coconut bras are not comfortable.

Sean Penn as Ursula’s fiancé and Phoebe’s eventual short affair

The One With The Halloween Party (Season 8, Episode 6)

Fun fact: Lisa Kudrow admitted to Radio Times that this episode is one of her favorites.

Alec Baldwin as the intense life-lover

The One In Massapequa (Season 8, Episode 18)

Fun fact: Alec Baldwin went on the record to say that he loved working with Lisa because she was “odd” but “funny.”

Selma Blair as Chandler’s two-timing second-in-command

The One With The Christmas In Tulsa (Season 9, Episode 10)

Fun fact: Despite her character’s less-than-ideal morals, Selma Blair has actually spoken up about sexual harassment in Hollywood.

Jeff Goldblum as the man Joey peed in front of

The One With The Mugging (Season 9, Episode 15)

Fun fact: Needing to pee might have made Joey a better actor, but he proved that when you have to go, you have to go.

Freddie Prinze Jr.

The One With The Male Nanny (Season 9, Episode 6)

Fun fact: Male nannies are just as good as female nannies.

John Stamos as Monica and Chandler’s almost-sperm donor

The One With The Donor (Season 9, Episode 22)

Fun fact: John Stamos actually does have great teeth.

Anna Faris as the birth mother of Chandler and Monica’s twins

The One With The Birth Mother (Season 10, Episode 9)

Fun fact: Adoption was the third way that Friends showed how people could become unconventional parents, following Phoebe’s surrogacy and Rachel’s single motherhood.

Danny Devito as the aging stripper

The One Where The Stripper Cries (Season 10, Episode 11)

Fun fact: Officer Goodbody is a legend.

Ellen Pompeo as Ross and Chandler’s old college crush

The One Where The Stripper Cries (Season 10, Episode 11)

Fun fact: Chandler broke his pact with Ross to never make a move on Ellen Pompeo’s character, Missy. But Ross did admit to telling Susan Salador that Chandler was gay back in college during Season 1. Call it even?

Dakota Fanning as the girl who talked Joey into accepting Chandler and Monica’s move

The One With Princess Consuela (Season 10, Episode 14)

Fun fact: Dakota Fanning was just 9 years old during this cameo. She’s 23 now.

Ten seasons seems like a lot, but when you’re having this much fun, it just isn’t long enough. But no matter what, one thing’s for sure: Friends will always be there for you.
