Harry Styles’ Solo Songs You Need To Hear Now
Turn the lights off, turn the speakers up and get lost
While all the boys of One Direction have had solo success since the group’s extended hiatus, there is no denying that Harry Styles’ career has shot off brighter and faster than his bandmates’. He’s starred in Dunkirk alongside Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy and solidified his Mick Jagger-like style in fashion magazines, but it’s his musical talent that we still cannot get enough of.

Sign Of The Times
And things are pretty good from here
Remember everything will be alright
We can meet again somewhere
Somewhere far away from here
As Harry’s debut single, Sign Of The Times is first on our must-listen to songs. While most people have likened the lyrics to a couple parting ways, he told Rolling Stone that it was actually about a mother having to say goodbye to her baby minutes after their first meeting.
“The song is written from a point of view as if a mother was giving birth to a child and there’s a complication,” he said. “The mother is told, ‘The child is fine, but you’re not going to make it.’”
Talk about heartbreaking.
Kiwi
She sits beside me like a silhouette
Hard candy dripping on me ‘til my feet are wet
And now she’s all over me, it’s like I paid for it
It’s like I paid for it—I’m gonna pay for this

Shaking his hair lose in Kiwi, Harry proves to us once again that he can gravel it out in banger fashion like the next chart-topper. Somewhat reminiscent of 90s BritPop all the while presenting itself like a modern take on Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, it’s a fun track with different layers that prove Harry isn’t here just for the fun of it.
Two Ghosts
The fridge light washes this room white
Moon dances over your good side
This was all we used to need
While Two Ghosts is arguably one of Harry’s simpler songs, it works perfectly with the honest-yet-painful lyrics. Anyone who knows what it’s like to walk away from a relationship completely different from when they walked into it will know exactly what it’s talking about. And the slide guitar and country-folk injections? Beautiful.
Sweet Creature
Had another talk about where it’s going wrong
But we’re still young
We don’t know where we’re going
But we know where we belong

There’s a certainty in being with someone that you love dearly, in knowing that no matter how often fights occur or how many arguments are entered, that you’ve found your home and you aren’t willing to let it go. Harry’s Sweet Creature is the shining epitome of these feelings that anyone who’s ever looked for or found love knows.
From The Dining Table
Maybe one day you’ll call me and tell me that you’re sorry too
But you, you never do
Woke up the girl who looked just like you
I almost said your name
Longing, nostalgia and the pain of seeing someone you loved start to love someone else—these things, wrapped together in a melancholy tune, make up From The Dining Table. This track paints a picture of the loneliness that comes with trying to find what you lost in someone else and watching them find something better.
Some people have called Harry Styles a musical genius and—you know what?—they aren’t completely off. Ever since he took a step from One Direction he has walked, danced and sung in his own light and we just cannot get enough.
