How Instagram Queen Selena Gomez Deals With Haters

Kill ’em with kindness, alright

With 94 million IG followers and counting, it’s safe to say Selena Gomez is currently the queen of social media (sorry Kim!).

Since beginning her acting career at the age of nine, Sel has garnered a solid fan base, thanks to the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place. After the show’s successful run, she branched out and added singer, songwriter and philanthropist under her belt.

But fame always comes at a price. Haters constantly troll her social media accounts, body shaming and nitpicking her every move. Fortunately, Sel’s one tough (but nice) cookie. Take cue from the queen and just do you despite all the spleen bitterness.

Deal with it like a boss.

Growing up in the public eye, Selena showed her strength and resilience whenever scandal or anything close to it broke out. When she took a hiatus from show business in 2013, it was reported that she spent some time at rehab in Arizona for drug and alcohol addiction. But Selena rolled with the punches and later revealed that she underwent chemotherapy for lupus, a disease that causes the immune system to attack healthy body tissue. Instead of letting all the negative press get to her, Sel focused on getting better and rebuilding her confidence.

Set a good example.

Did you know Selena became the youngest-ever UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador at the age of 17? She’s also been involved with over a dozen charities, promoting causes ranging from children’s education to AIDS awareness. Make-A-Wish America, an organization that grants wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses, even gave Selena an award for obliging so many requests from young fans.

Spread love, not hate.

Selena’s the queen of Instagram while her Twitter following, nearing 45 million, is growing daily. Some famous folk use social media to hate on other people but Selena uses hers to interact with her fans and encourage people to just #killemwithkindness. Plus, it’ll make you feel better, too.
