How Well Do You Remember The Icons of the Early 2000s?
Because there's always a good reason for a throwback
“They don’t make movies, music, etc., like they used to” is what we always hear our parents, titos and titas, and anybody else a couple of years older than us say. And as pop culture icons, like Paris Hilton celebrated their birth month, we find ourselves saying the same thing, too. Where are the Bring It On’s, You Got Served and Save the Last Dance of this generation? What’s today’s High School Musical or Camp Rock?? Whatever happened to 50 Cent, Outkast and Missy Elliott??? Though there are plenty of great artists and talented individuals out there today, they really just don’t make entertainment like they did in the early 00’s.
So here, we pay tribute to some of the icons of that era, from music to movies to reality TV.

The Simple Life
Paris Hilton initially wanted her sister, Nicky to do The Simple Life with her, but the latter said it didn’t sound like fun. Kimberly Stewart and Casey Johnson were the other top choices but they obviously said no, so Paris finally asked Nicole who immediately said yes because she wanted to travel with her BFF (aww)!
The show ran for five seasons before coming to a screeching halt due to several complications, including Paris and Nicole serving jail time for drinking under the influence.

In an interview with Oprah, Kristin Cavallari revealed that she and the rest of the cast of Laguna Beach were manipulated by the producers. Case in point: that time then boyfriend-Stephen Colletti would take out Lauren Conrad and bring her flowers, “which never would’ve happened if it wasn’t for the show,” she told Oprah.

Queer Eye For The Straight Guy is the first of its kind on TV. What’s so great about it was how the show transcended sexual orientation and became more about The Fab Five’s—Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Carson Kressley and Jai Rodriguez—larger-than-life personalities and the guys they’ve transformed for the better.
