Missed the K-Crew Dance Fest 2019 Grand Finals? Here's a Recap!
Of guest performers, idol lookalikes and well-deserved wins
It’s been a long and weathered road for the K-Crew Dance Fest 2019 participants. What began as a nationwide search for the most talented K-Pop cover groups back in August officially culminated last weekend. In case you missed out, we fill you in on the highlights of the K-Crew Dance Fest 2019 Grand Finals ahead!
The Guest Performer
SInce K-Crew Dance Fest is hinged on the tenets of K-Pop and dance, who better to grace the event than group-of-the-moment, SB19? Members Sejun, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin rushed over from an earlier event in the afternoon to serenade the crowds at the K-Crew Dance Fest—and pulled off the performance flawlessly, to boot.
The Lookalike Contest
Anyone who has been an attendee of K-Pop-themed conventions in the past decade can tell you this much: lookalike contests are crucial in any such event. After all, there’s no denying most of us take a little hair and makeup inspo from our favorite idols one way or another—might as well make the most of it!
The pool of contestants was initially narrowed down to 10 hopefuls ahead of the Grand Finals. However, only one lucky fan left the venue with P10,000 and the bragging rights for a special idol package: Christine Gildo, who shares a striking resemblance to SEVENTEEN’s Vernon.
The Grand Winner
It’s safe to say that all cover groups deserved their spot in the list of finalists after showing off their sharp moves and and synchronization during the live eliminations. With so much potential and stage presence spread present in all the participating cover groups, the panel of judges—made up of K-Pop choreographer and dancer JONG, former K-Pop idol Kang Min Su and local K-Pop dance diva Dasuri Choi—certainly had their fair share of trouble settling on just one winner.
At the end of the evening, IZ*ONE cover group BOIZ*ONE was named the Grand Winner and Fan Favorite of K-Crew Dance Fest 2019. Meanwhile, ALPHA and Phoemuse were named 1st and 2nd Runners Up, respectively.
