August Watchlist: 5 K-Dramas to Catch Up To

Our favorite K-companions



We might have exhausted our watchlist for the summer, but there’s no shortage of K-dramas worth following religiously or best for binge-watching on weekends. Just because we’re halfway through the year, it doesn’t mean that all the good stuff—AKA K-dramas—stop coming. So here’s the list of August K-dramas you should be catching up on, whether you need to follow a messy storyline or some dose of kilig to brighten your day.

Hospital Playlist Season 2


One of the most anticipated K-Dramas is Hospital Playlist. Everyone’s favorite group of best friends is back together for more jamming sessions, growing pains and lives to save in the second season of Hospital Playlist. Join Ik-jun (Jo Jung-suk), Jeong-won (Yoo Yeon-seok), Jun-wan (Jung Kyung-ho), Seok-hyeong (Kim Dae-myung) and Song-hwa (Jeon Mi-do) as they juggle working with multiple patients, life outside work and their love for music as they go.


Watch the new episodes of Hospital Playlist Season Two when they premiere every Thursday, at 10 PM only on Netflix.


Nevertheless 


Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, Nevertheless follows Na-bi (Han So-hee), a graduating art student with bad luck in the romance department. After splitting up with her toxic boyfriend, she meets the mysterious flirt, Park Jae-eon (Song Kang). As they continue to run into each other, the two develop a close relationship that has Na-bi falling harder. Now she’s left wondering if it’s still worth pursuing at all, especially when Jae-eon doesn’t believe in relationships.


Catch the new episodes of Nevertheless when they premiere on Netflix, every Saturday at 11 PM.


You Are My Spring 


Hotel manager Kang Da-jung (Seo Hyun-jin) moves to an old building for a new start as she tries to get through her childhood trauma. She meets psychiatrist Joo Young-do (Kim Dong-Wook), who aims to help others heal their emotional wounds yet can’t seem to let go of his. The two develop a close relationship when they get involved in a confusing murder case in their building.

The Penthouse 3


The residents of Hera Palace are back, alive and ready to do anything that they can to deliver their revenge. The third season of Penthouse: War In Life will be following Su-ryeon (Lee Ji-ah), Seo-jin (Kim So-yeon), Yoon-hee (Eugene) and their gifted children preparing for their college entrance exams. However, ongoing tragedies, secrets and mysterious new people continue to rock their lives and alliance. How will the residents of Hera Palace cope and fight back? Only new episodes will tell.

The Devil Judge 


This K-drama is set in a dystopian version of South Korea, where the public hates their leaders and live in utter chaos. Trials are broadcasted through a live courtroom show supposedly to deliver the message about justice, headed by the divisive Judge Kang (Ji Sung) or the “Devil Judge.” Eventually, a rivalry between him and an ambitious and scheming Jung Sun-Ah (Kim Min-Jung) blooms. Rookie judge Kim Ga On (Park Jin-young) and police officer Yoon Soo-Hyun (Park Gyu-young) aim to challenge the two head-on.
