Your First Taste of Hello K-Idol
If you’ve been in the loop, chances are you’ve caught wind of the first Viu Original in the country, Hello K-Idol. In case you didn’t quite catch the memo, let us fill you in. Extending the chance of a lifetime to the brave and ambitious, this is not your ordinary reality show. It is a nationwide search for the next K-Pop sensation. The twist? We’ve decided to look from the outside in, targeting Filipinos with the talent and stage presence to back up their big dreams by offering the winner a four-month all-expense paid scholarship to learn K-pop vocal and dance at a prestigious entertainment talent school in Korea.
Hello K-Idol was set into motion last month and K-Karnival this weekend will be the stage for the public’s first peek into the show. Swing by the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent on Saturday, July 14, to catch performances by the Top 10 Hello K-Idol K-trainees and meet idol mentors Dasuri Choi and Jinho Bae (and maybe even a special guest).
Yook Sung Jae Fan Meeting "Paradise" in Manila
Welcome to paradise. Headlining the first day of K-Karnival’s festivities is boy group BTOB’s Yook Sung Jae, who is making his way back to Manila for a solo fan meeting. Whether it’s performances or chatting sessions with the idol you’re after, this event is your chance to get closer to your idol.
In case you haven’t started stanning just yet, it isn’t too late. You could start with his group’s most recent hit Only One for Me, or catch up on his solo content by watching the record-breaking series, Goblin, or his variety show All the Butlers on Viu. Hop on the Sung Jae stan train and score your tickets via Ticket World today before they run out!
Fan Club and K-Drama Booths
When it comes to participating in a fandom, collecting merchandise is an itch that’s nearly impossible not to scratch. After all, when your idol or actor’s face is plastered across posters, their smile printed on photocards, their voice fixed into discs, what’s a fan to do?
Spoiler: You give in. That’s what you do. Understanding the need to keep your fandom inventory well-stocked, K-Karnival will have booths catering to different artists and dramas on its second day. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled; you never know what kind of goods you’ll find.
K-Pop Cover Dance Presentation
What would K-Pop be without dance? With hot-right-now dances and iconic point choreography that has lasted the test of time, even the most casual of fans would realize just how crucial dance is when it comes to this genre. Simultaneously paying tribute to the art of dance and the countless artists who have left legendary moves lodged into our memories, K-Karnival will be hosting a cover dance competition on the second day of the event. Prepare to be blown away!
