A Series of Unfortunate Events (Netflix)
Say what, Neil Patrick Harris in a Netflix series? You know it oughtta be good. A Series of Unfortunate Events, coming to the streaming world of Netflix early 2017, follows the story of the Baudelaire children and the wicked master of disguise Count Olaf. With a dark comedy in approach (and again, NPH) instead of drama, we expect no less than ingenious costumes against a gorgeous Gothic backdrop as well as brilliantly weird performances by its uh-mazing cast including Patrick Warburton and Joan Cusack.
Streaming January 13, 2017 only on Netflix.
Taboo (FX)
While this may not be for everyone, just the thought of Tom Hardy co-creating and starring in the series is enough to get us intrigued. The very arty and strange series centers on long-lost adventurer who returns to Britain from Africa to avenge his father’s death. By the looks of the trailer, you’re in for a lot of blood, gore and black magic.
Premieres January 7 on BBC One and January 10, 2017 on FX.
Riverdale (CW
We’re all suckers for young adult fiction and series that make us believe that love conquers all. Sin your teeth into Riverdale, a live-action drama based on comic book icon(s) Archie and his small-town friends. “A subversive take” on the classic, the show will focus on the staple love triangle as well as the town’s weird happenings. So if you love/d Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf and similar trailers, you’re going to love Riverdale, 90s kid or not.
Premieres January 26, 2017.
Legion (FX)
A co-production between FX and Marvel TV, Legion stars Dan Stevens as David Haller, a young man diagnosed with schizophrenia. Though he later realizes that the visions and voices are not all in his head—they’re real. Or not. You’ll see what we mean when you watch the trailer. And because it’s created by Noah Hawley (Fargo), we already have high expectations.

Z: The Beginning of Everything
They say behind every great man is a great woman. And this couldn’t be truer than with F. Scott Fitzgerald who wed Southern belle turned feminist icon Zelda. The protagonist of Z: The Beginning of Everything, the series follows her early life and very public marriage, plagued by infidelity and, well, wild parties.
Now available on Amazon with the rest of the series airing in 2017.
Iron Fist
Another Marvel character graces the small screen, Danny Rand a.k.a Iron Fist. A martial arts expert with the ability to call upon the power of the Iron Fist, Rand has to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as a superhero.
