All The Movies We Can't Wait To See Next Year
Goodbye, 2017. Hello, 2018
2018 is going to be a big year for movies. We’ve got a lot of action, animation, drama, horror and comedy to look forward to. So whatever your taste, don’t worry about it because you’re sure to find your cup of tea when the New Year rolls around. Trust us, you might as well be planning your weekends based on the movies you need to see.
Black Panther
February 2018
While the character of Black Panther debuted just last year in Captain America: Civil War, his addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe drew cheers from fans and non-fans alike. And with his stand-alone film coming up in just a few weeks, you know everybody is on a high.
Black Panther follows the events after Captain America, as King T’Challa returns home to Wakanda. But when two enemies conspire to take over his kingdom, T’Challa suits up as Black Panther and partners up with CIA agent Everett K. Ross, as well as memebers of the Dora Milaje—Wakanda’s Special Forces.

Lara Croft isn’t a stranger to the world of entertainment, but the 2018 reboot of the film series has us eager to see how Alicia Vikander takes on the role.

Pacific Rim: Uprising
March 2018
Set ten years after the Battle of the Breach, everything looks great on the surface. The oceans seem still and the Jaeger program has become one of the most powerful global defense forces in human history, but there’s an air that’s restless and eventually breaks.
When the Kaiju threat returns, the PPDC needs to call upon the best and the brightest to become the next generation of fighters. And how will they be trained? Under some of the best ex-Jaeger pilots of course.
Isle Of Dogs
March 2018
Coming off the success of Fantastic Mister Fox, Wes Anderson is back with another stunning stop-motion film in the form of Isle of Dogs. Set in futuristic Japan, all dogs are sent to an isolated island as a strange epidemic is spread by canines.
A young boy flies into the island in order to find his pet, Spots. There, he finds a group of five dogs, Chief, Rex, Boss, Duke and King, each of who swear to protect him from the Japanese authorities who have come to retrieve him.
Avengers: Infinity War
May 2018
Stick with us here. Avengers: Infinity War is set four years after Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and follows the split of the Avengers as seen in Captain America: Civil War.
Thanos, the most powerful enemy (thus far) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, arrives to Earth with one mission: Collect the rest of the Infinity Stones, which will allow him to bend reality to his will. To stop him, the Avengers and the Guardians need to team up to protect the world.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
May 2018
We’re all still on a Star Wars: The Last Jedi high and this high is going to keep us going until Solo: A Star Wars Story premieres next year. Themed as a space Western, the film will tell the story of a young Han Solo, a rogue smuggler who eventually meets Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. In on the ride are a young Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca.

Slender Man
May 2018
Once upon a time, horror movies were inspired by legend, myths or real stories. But Slender Man is a modern story, drawn up by the internet and feared by millions around the world. Described as a tall, thin and wraith-like figure who often appears after a mysterious disappearance, Slender Man is the stuff of nightmares. And with director Sylvain White at the helm, this might be 2018’s most dreaded story.
Deadpool 2
May 2018
“Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade Wilson must battle ninjas, the yakuza and a pack of sexually aggressive canines,” the official synopsis of Deadpool 2 reads. “He journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship and flavor—finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.”
Now, that doesn’t sound like the legitimate synopsis, but with Ryan Reynolds starring as the funny and foul-mouthed mercenary, there really are no bounds.
Ocean’s 8
June 2018
In what can only be described as the epitome of girl power, Ocean’s 8 takes us back to the world of illegal heists—but through fashionably tinted glasses. Danny Ocean’s estranged sister, Debbie, tries to pull off the heist of the century at New York’s star-studded and worldwide-watched annual Met Gala. But first, she needs to assemble the perfect crew.
Honestly, we cannot wait to see Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter and Awkwafina share the big screen with each other.
The Incredibles 2
June 2018
While they have learned to embrace their superhero powers, the Parr family still struggles to maintain their normal lives. This time, Helen/Elastigirl is out fighting crime while Bob/Mr. Incredible is at home watching their children, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are finally making them known, albeit at random bursts.
The Incredibles and Frozone must then team up once again to save the face of humanity as a new villain, The Underminer, unveils his sinister plot.
Boy Erased
September 2018
While it’s flying under the radar, Boy Erased is actually a star-studded film with a powerful and eye-opening story. The film stars Lucas Hedges, Russel Crowe, Nicole Kidman and Joel Edgerton, who is also the director and screenplay writer.
The story follows Gerrard, a son of a Baptist pastor who is outed to his parents when he’s 19. In order to avoid further conflict with his family, friends and church, he agrees to attend a gay conversion therapy program. It is in the program, however, where he comes into conflict with his therapist.
Bohemian Rhapsody
December 2018
The music of Queen and the voice of one Freddie Mercury will echo through the years in loud and melodious tunes. And this time next year, their lives will be all anyone can talk about.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a biographical drama film that falls under a 15-year period, from the formation of the iconic band up to their performance at Live Aid in 1985, just six years before Mercury’s death.

Mary Poppins Returns
December 2018
It’s been a long-time coming, but we’re finally going to see more of our favorite fictional nanny, Mary Poppins. The role, which Emily Blunt is taking from Julie Andrews, is as iconic as it is colorful.
In the film, which is set in during the era of the UK’s Great Depression in 1935, the grownup Jane and Michael Banks are visited by their childhood nanny—and not too late either. Following the death of his wife, Michael must take care of his three children, Annabel, Georgie and John, as be himself feels numb and joyless.
Can’t wait until 2018? We don’t blame you.
