What You Need To Know About Netflix’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Just in case you’re only hearing about the awesome new series now
The guys at Netflix are breathing a dark and comedic life to Lemony Snicket’s beloved classic, A Series Of Unfortunate Events. Though there’s little we know about the show (making us all the more curious), we’ve seen the trailer—Neil Patrick Harris, gasp!—and it looks as grim, beautiful and quirky as we imagined Netflix’s interpretation would be.
The Author
Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on Lemony Snicket’s 13 bestselling novels. But the author’s real name isn’t that fruity; it’s Daniel Handler and the man himself is going to executive produce the series.
The Plot
ASOUE is about the wily, villainous Count Olaf a.k.a Master of Disguise and three orphaned children, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire. The Count, played by Neil Patrick Harris, puts on one artful disguise after another (NPH in drag though) to get his hands on the orphaned children’s fortune. Thus, leading to crazy adventures in the most whimsical locations one can imagine.
The Cast
All we know is that Neil Patrick Harris plays the Count and that Malina Weissman, 13, and Louis Hynes, 15 are going to take on the roles of Violet and Klaus. We’ve also seen shots of Joan Cusack as Justice Strauss, Alfre Woodard as Aunt Josephine, Don Johnson as Sir and Aasif Mandvi as Uncle Monty.
Premieres Friday, January 13 only on Netflix.
