New on Netflix: 7 Titles We Can’t Wait to Stream in May 2021
From brand-new movies to new seasons of old favorites
We might still be cooped up at home, but we’re in good company this month. If we’re talking about the Netflix lineup for May, know that there is a ton of series and films to look forward to.
For starters, there’s that Vincenzo finale we’ll be taking a while longer to process. Those in the mood for a good throwback will be pleased to know that Miss Congeniality is back and so is Charlie’s Angels. It’s a promising start to the month. And the rest of it is just as jam-packed. Ahead, the seven titles we can’t wait to stream this month.
Selena: The Series Part 2
Starring: Christian Serratos, Gabriel Chavarria, Gabriel Chavarria, Noemi Gonzalez, Seidy Lopez and Hunter Reese Peña
With the retelling of Selena Quintanilla’s humble beginnings already through, part two of the Netflix Original series focuses its lens on the queen of Tejano music at the brink of stardom. During her rise to fame, Selena (Christian Serratos) grapples with the realities of going mainstream, fighting to remain true to herself and to keep her relationships intact.

Girl from Nowhere Season 2
Starring: Kitty Chicha Amatayakul, Chanya McClory and Thanawetch Siriwattanakul
The hit Thai anthology series is returning this month for its sophomore season, which means karma will be back, too. It still follows the story of Nanno, a girl with the power to rewrite the stories of those she encounters. Girl from Nowhere brings her to a new school, where she takes on eight cases (inspired by real news stories) where justice wasn’t served. Will Nanno successfully see to it that it will be?
Lessons begins May 7 only on Netflix.
Super Me
Starring: Darren Wang, Song Jia, Cao Bingkun, Wu Gang, Chin Shih-chieh, Wang Ziyi and Kevin Lee
This 2019 Chinese fantasy drama is also coming to Netflix this month. Super Me tells the unusual rags-to-riches story of Sang Yu (Darren Wang), a struggling screenwriter who untaps a superpower that would change his life forever. He realizes he can bring antiques from his dreams into the real world and soon begins to enrich his life. His good fortunes are eventually met with complications, however, when a gangster villain named Qiang Ge (Wu Gang) enters the picture.
Stream Super Me when it premieres on Netflix on May 8.
Oxygen
Starring: Mélanie Laurent, Mathieu Amalric, Malik Zidi and Marc Saez
From French director Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes and Mirrors) comes a gripping Netflix original thriller. Oxygen begins with a rude awakening: a woman named Liz (Mélanie Laurent) wakes up inside a cryogenic unit with only a mysterious virtual medical operator locked in with her to give her answers. She learns she has 90 minutes before her oxygen runs out and has to search her memory in order to find a way to survive.
Stream Oxygen when it premieres on May 12.
Move to Heaven
Starring: Lee Jehoon, Jin-hee Ji and Tang Joon-Sang
“Finding life in all that’s left behind” is what this Netflix Original K-drama sheds light on. Move to Heaven follows the life of a trauma cleaner with Asperger’s syndrome named Geu-ru, who, along with his uncle and newly appointed legal guardian, are tasked with the solemn job of arranging items left behind by the deceased. Here, they also deliver the untold stories of the departed to loved ones.
If there’s a K-drama to tune into in May, this is it. Stream Move to Heaven starting May 14.
HALSTON
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Rory Culkin, Rebecca Dayan, Sullivan Jones, Mary Beth Peil and Gian Franco Rodriguez
It’s the life story of American fashion designer Roy Halston like you’ve never seen before. The new Netflix original series is a look into the man who built an iconic fashion empire and whose style defined an entire era. Luxury, sex, status and fame: what happens when everything spins out of control?

Army of the Dead
Starring: Dave Bautista, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ella Purnell and Ana de la Reguera
In May, Zack Snyder presents his contender for zombie movie of the year. Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) joins a band of mercenaries recruited to retrieve $200 million just sitting underneath the Las Vegas strip. The catch? Vegas is overrun by zombies following an outbreak. The army of the living must now face off with the army of the dead in one crazy zombie heist.
Army of the Dead premieres on Netflix on May 21.
