10 New and Returning Series Coming to Screens in 2023

Are you ready to binge these shows?

2023 is right around the corner and if you’re looking for new series to catch or waiting for a new season to drop, here are additional titles for you to consider. Ahead, we round up 10 new and returning shows across Netflix, Disney+, HBO, and Prime Video coming to screens in 2023 for your consideration.

The Last of Us

This HBO series is based on the 2013 video game The Last of Us developed by Naughty Dog. As the award-winning game hits the small screen, viewers can expect an immersive look at the post-apocalyptic United States of America. If you’re not familiar with the game, here’s a refresher: the story revolves around a smuggler tasked with escorting a teenager across the United States. In the HBO series adaptation, the main cast includes Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, primarily. To boot, the show’s first season consists of nine episodes written by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.

The Last of Us will be available on HBO on January 15, 2023.

Never Have I Ever

The popular coming-of-age Netflix Original comedy Never Have I Ever returns for its fourth and final season. This could happen as early as January 2023, too. Along with all the anticipation of what the final season holds comes the wonder of how the love triangle between the trio Devi, Ben, and Paxton will unfold. For its fourth season, Michael Cimino will be joining the Never Have I Ever cast, too, playing the role of Ethan, a skater, and Sherman Oaks High’s latest heartthrob.

Though a definite release date is yet to be announced, Never Have I Ever is expected to return to Netflix in early 2023.

You

This show made everyone think twice about people’s fascination with serial killers—or just about men in general. You is set to return for its fourth season in two separate drops. The first part of the season is expected on February 10, 2023, while the second part comes soon after, on March 9. According to Netflix, Joe Goldberg’s new chapter sees him adopting a new persona as Professor Jonathan Moore—not only in a new city but a whole continent! Joe flies to London following the tragic events of the third season. Stay tuned for more chaos.

Binge the first three seasons of You only on Netflix while you wait for the fourth season to drop in February.

The Mandalorian

We’re sure Star Wars fans have missed seeing Grogu, better known as Baby Yoda, accompany Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin the bounty hunter in his travels to Mandalore. What’s up ahead? Fans spoiled to the fullest with eight episodes of the third season along with a fourth season in the works.

Watch the fourth season of The Mandalorian on Disney+ starting March 1, 2023.

Citadel

Citadel is an upcoming sci-fi TV series by Patrick Moran and the Russo Brothers with several spinoffs set in the Italian Alps, India, Mexico, and Spain.

Though not much is known about the show’s plot with it being kept under wraps, it is described as an “action-packed spy series with a compelling emotional center.” Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra are both expected to play Citadel agents Mason Kane and Nadia Singh in this seven-episode series.

Citadel will be available on Prime Video around the first quarter of 2023.

Loki

Everyone’s favorite God of Mischief is coming back for the second season of Loki. Tom Hiddleston, of course, reprises his iconic role. The show will consist of six episodes in total and will be part of MCU’s Phase Five. Other than Tom Hiddleston, we have actors like Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino to look forward to, as well, as they reprise their roles from the first season.

Loki season two is slated for a Disney+ release mid-2023.

American Born Chinese

Everything Everywhere All At Once co-stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu are reuniting for the upcoming action-comedy, based on Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel of the same name.

The series follows a struggling Chinese-American teen whose meeting with his school’s foreign exchange student leads him to a battle between the Gods of Chinese mythology.

With its filming wrapped in July 2022, American Born Chinese is said to be released on Disney+ this year. Stay tuned for the official release date.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

The royal hype continues to reign upon Netflix. The streaming giant is set to bring back Bridgerton. This time, viewers get to take a look at Queen Charlotte’s story.

This spin-off centers on a young Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel in the current series. The show takes on the reason she married King George and the events that led to the creation of the Ton.

While there’s no premiere date set for Queen Charlotte, Netflix shares that it should be anytime in 2023.

Ahsoka

Star Wars fans have got a lot to look forward to this year as Ahsoka Tano finally gets her own spin-off series. After making an appearance in The Mandalorian, Rosario Dawson stars again as Ahsoka Tano. We can only wonder what the show is about as fans are left with little information on the series’ plot thus far.

Ahsoka is rumored to be released on Disney+ in late 2023, giving way to the third season of The Mandalorian

The Idol

If you’re on social media, chances are you’ve already seen this series trend alongside the familiar name of BLACKPINK’s Jennie. The Korean pop star joins Troye Sivan, The Weeknd, and Lily-Rose Depp in this sultry new series made by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, Reza Fahim, and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. HBO’s new upcoming American drama focuses on Jocelyn, an aspiring pop idol who has caused her last tour to be canceled after a nervous breakdown.

The Idol will be available on HBO sometime in 2023.
