One of our biggest past times as Pinoys has to be watching movies. We love everything about it, from the actors, to the storyline, to the well-placed punch lines and obvious twists. And while summer activities are fast approaching, we know you’ll make time for these modern-day classic Pinoy romcoms.

Camp Sawi

Yassi Pressman, Bela Padilla, Arci Muñoz, Kim Molina and Andi Eigenmann make up the hilariously relatable cast of Camp Sawi. They showed us the comedic side of our heartbreaks and taught us how to get through it—but that getting through is never the same for one person. Some chose silence, others chose alcohol. Others cling to what they have left and some yearn for a different pace.

Hugot lang ng hugot, but there’s no denying we can each relate to at least one character from Camp Sawi. Now if we could only find our own personal Sam Milby.

Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo

Starring Kim Chiu as the brainy and style-challenged secretary and Xian Lim as the privileged and demanding boss, Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo plays on the classic story of two people meeting in the middle. What makes it different, however, is that it’s sprinkled with Filipino traits, beliefs and jokes. Ramon Bautista makes random appearances to teach the characters a lesson or two, which we should all take cues from as well.

At the beginning, the goal is to turn Kim’s character into someone worth loving. But it’s Xian’s character that is really changed.

Four Sisters And A Wedding

This film has everything, including Bea Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga, Angel Locsin, Shaina Magdayao and Enchong Dee. There’s the successful sister that’s lonely in New York but seems to have everything, another that is faking success to not disappoint her family, one with a troubled past, someone that is pleased with her simple life and a brother that just wants to marry the woman he loves. But beyond their personal stories is an underlying connection that we can all relate to.

Four Sisters And A Wedding isn’t the love story you’d expect, but it is the family drama you might need.

My Amnesia Girl

In My Amnesia Girl, Toni Gonzaga feigns losing her memory in order not to deal with John Lloyd Cruz leaving her at the altar. But instead of walking away, John Lloyd is challenged to start their relationship again. What follows is the classic ligaw phase, which is made awkward by Toni’s hirits.

The ending is expected, but the journey is fun and sweet—keep an eye out for the birthday scene.

One More Chance

We know you’ve probably seen this dozens of times, but there’s something about John Lloyd picking the skin off Bea Alonzo’s chicken that always strikes a chord. And when Bea finally stands her ground and leaves that—let’s face it—toxic relationship, we all breathe a sigh of relief. 

You never know what you have until it’s gone and you never know what you’re willing to do until you have to fight for it.
