The Shows Coming Back to Netflix This Year
Beginning with a January 2020 watch list update
Now that 2020 is in motion, it’s time to acknowledge that big things lie ahead for entertainment. For one, award show season is officially upon us. With the 77th Annual Golden Globes done (though Ricky Gervais’ quips will be engrained in our minds forever), the Screen Actors Guild Awards coming up and the 92nd Annual Academy Awards on the horizon, it’s a great time to see what’s good, what’s making waves and what to keep our eyes peeled for in cinema. But let’s not discount television! While it’s a long way to the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, it’s never too early to start picking out titles to add to the watch list. And over on Netflix, we’re already eyeing several titles with long-awaited new seasons hitting the streaming platform this year.
Below, we round up the series coming out with brand-new episodes in January. Be sure to check back in for updates on new season premiere dates for the rest of 2020!
Grace and Frankie
Season 6
Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen
Screen legends Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin reprise their roles as Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein in the offbeat Netflix original. Now exploring well beyond the life-after-divorce story arc, season six brings with it new twists and turns as the two best friends come to terms with growing older and, as season five’s The Wedding episode suggests, growing apart.

In its third installment, Sabrina Spellman’s chilling adventures includes a side trip to the underworld. “Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) can’t live with herself, knowing that Nick made the ultimate sacrifice and is suffering, burning in Hell under Madam Satan’s watchful eye,” the creators of the series revealed. “So with an assist from her mortal friends, 'The Fright Club' (consisting of Harvey, Rosalind, and Theo), Sabrina makes it her mission to free him from eternal damnation and bring him back into her arms.” But naturally, the Dark Lord has other plans.
