We're Not Done Yet! Stream Fan Girl On UPSTREAM Until January 14

Watch it while you can

Traditions may come and go, but one Christmas tradition we’re thankful we didn’t have to give up in 2020 is the Metro Manila Film Festival. While the experience definitely wasn’t like what we’re used to, at least we still got our local film fix.

Fan Girl, starring Paulo Avelino and Charlie Dizon, has extended its streaming dates until January 14, 2021. Thanks to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, in partnership with UPSTREAM and GMovies, the award-winning film from Direk Antoinette Jadaone, is still well within reach. And, if you haven’t already, we suggest you take advantage of this opportunity.

The film follows the story of Jane (Dizon) and Paulo Avelino, who plays a fictional version of himself. Following a mall appearance for a film promotion, Paulo drives home to a secluded house in the province—and finds Jane watching him in the darkness of his staircase. It seems she hijacked his pickup, laid down quietly in the back and waited for her opportunity to meet him.

Sounds like any fan girl’s dream come true, doesn’t it? But as the two are forced to spend the evening together, Jane learns so much more about her idol than she wanted to. Throughout the next few hours (and days, as it extends), the two learn about each other: their fears, their real histories, what keeps them up at night and just what kinds of horrors they are both willing to be part of.

Fan Girl is not the romantic comedy that you’re used to. But if the awards it won at the Gabi ng Parangal Awards—Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Picture—don’t tell you enough, let us reiterate: Fan Girl is worth the time.

Catch Fan Girl, Tagpuan and The Missing on UPSTREAM until January 14.
