The Fate Of The Furious: Surprise! Vin Diesel Goes Rogue
Maybe he’s just trying to blow off some steam
Vin Diesel’s iconic Dominic Toretto has been the patron of the Fast and the Furious franchise for years now. Many thought that Paul Walker’s untimely death would have stopped the continuation of the movie series, but that just isn’t the case. In a previous interview, Diesel even said that the eighth installment had to be great, because they were doing it in his memory.
The Fate of the Furious is scheduled for release in April, but its trailer has us scratching our heads.
Yes, that’s Toretto going against his entire family of vigilante racers. He plays a very powerful pawn in the scheme of Charlize Theron’s villainous Cipher. We don’t know why he’s gone rogue exactly, but we do know it’s going to make for some entertaining rides.
Toretto’s evidently been given some powerful machines to take the rest of the crew down and in the trainer alone, there are some serious crashes and fast-paced moments. He seems hell bent and completely capable of taking down anyone in his path. And for whatever reason, he’s willing to put everyone else’s lives at risk.
But for what? A second trailer gives us a bigger insight.
Here we see Toretto telling Cipher than he wasn’t really given a choice, that everything he’s doing, he’s doing against his will. We also see Michelle Rodriquez’s Letty trying to convince him to return to the good guys. “I don’t know why you’re doing this,” she said. “But I know one thing: You love me.” Yeah, our hearts broke a little, too.
But if there is one shining light in the destruction of character and some beautiful rides, it’s that Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are reprising their roles as Luke Hobbs and Ian Shaw, respectively. We’re ready for those winning one liners, boys.
