Titles We Can’t Wait to Stream on Disney+: December 2022
After the long wait, Disney+ is finally available in the Philippines
Disney+ joined the roster of streamers available in the Philippines last November 17, connecting Filipinos with their favorite Disney characters. Here, viewers can expect a wide variety of content to choose from across Disney’s famed studios, including Disney+ Originals, exclusives from Marvel Studios, Star Wars movies, iconic Walt Disney and Pixar films, curated series from Star, and K-drama series from South Korea.
In the Philippines, interested subscribers have two tiers to select from: a mobile plan for ₱ 159 monthly (coming out at ₱1,150 annually) and a premium plan for ₱369 monthly (at ₱2,950 annually). Disney+ is currently available for streaming on smartphones, tablets, and televisions, depending on the chosen subscription plan.

Disenchanted

Picture this: it’s been 10 years since Giselle and Robert got married. Becoming disillusioned with life in the city, Giselle moves together with her growing family to the suburban community of Monroeville in search of her idyllic fairy tale life. Frustrated that her happily ever after is not what she thought it would be like, Giselle makes a wish using the magic of Andalasia, accidentally transforming the entire town into a real-life fairy tale. With her family’s future happiness at stake, Giselle is in a race against time to reverse the spell, discovering what happily ever after truly means for her.
Hocus Pocus 2
Starring: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, Doug Jones, Lilia Buckingham
29 years after the Sanderson sisters were first resurrected by the Black Flame Candle, teenagers Becca and Izzy accidentally bring back these sinister witches to modern-day Salem. Together with their estranged friend Cassie, the girls use the magic of friendship and sisterhood to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc.
Encanto
Starring: Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, María Cecilia Botero, Diane Guerrero, Jessica Darrow
Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary Colombian family, the Madrigals. Helmed by Abuela Alma, the Madrigal children and grandchildren in this family receive magical gifts from a “miracle” that helps them serve the people in their small town, Encanto. In turn, the magic of Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child, however, except Mirabel. When she discovers that the magic surrounding Encanto is in danger, Mirabel soon realizes that being ordinary might just hold the key to saving her exceptional family.
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
Starring: Chris Pratt, Kevin Bacon, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker
In a flashback, Peter Quill is seen teaching Kraglin Obfonteri about Christmas, but Yondu Udonta despises the sentimental holiday and tosses out the decorations. At present, Kraglin explains these events to the Guardians as to why Quill seems depressed as Christmas takes place on Earth. The Guardians make it their special mission to make Christmas unforgettable for Quill, heading to Earth in search of the perfect gift to bring him holiday cheer.
Raya and the Last Dragon
Starring: Kelly Marie Tran, Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Izaac Wong, Daniel Dae Kim
In the world of Kumandra, humans and dragons live together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrifice themselves to save mankind. 500 years later, that same evil returns and now, it is up to Raya, a warrior princess, to find the legendary last dragon to protect the land from the plague and to restore its divided people. Along her journey, Raya learns that it will take more than a dragon to save the world: she would have to open her heart to trust again.
Lightyear
Starring: Chris Evans, Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, James Brolin, Uzo Aduba
Let’s rewind: In 1995, birthday boy Andy gets a Buzz Lightyear, the star of his favorite movie. This is that movie. Legendary space ranger Buzz Lightyear embarks on an intergalactic adventure alongside ambitious recruits Izzy, Mo, Darby, and his robotic cat companion, Sox. As this crew tackles their toughest mission yet, they must learn to work together as a team to escape the evil Zurg and his dutiful robot army.
BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage
Starring: BTS (RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook)
Permission to Dance on Stage is a series of concert performances headlined by BTS. The 12-hour show run originally began in Seoul, South Korea on October 24, 2021, and concluded in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 16, 2022. The concert film features the live performance of the Grammy-nominated music group’s concert, including their hit songs “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance.” As the members of the globally-renowned group begin to enlist for their military service, this show should be a great way for fans to stay entertained by their faves.
Home Alone
Starring: Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O’Hara, John Heard
Home Alone is a nostalgic Christmas movie filled with laughter and heartwarming moments. When eight-year-old Kevin McCallister acts out before his family trip to Paris, his mother makes him sleep in the attic and he makes a wish for his family to disappear. Accidentally left behind when his family rushes off to the airport, Kevin awakens to an empty home, thinking that his wish had come true. After initially relishing time by himself, Kevin encounters two con men attempting to rob the house and learns how to protect his family home.
