Triple Frontier is a High-Action Heist for Adrenaline Junkies
Netflix ups the ante with Triple Frontier, the newest addition to their film roster
With names like Academy Award® nominated director, J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, All Is Lost, A Most Violent Year) and The Dark Knight Trilogy producer Charles Roven on board, Netflix’s latest action film, Triple Frontier, has been a highly anticipated project. Add that to a star-studded cast with Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal and you have Triple Frontier, an action-packed heist film for the thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies.
Right from the get-go, the film delivers on its promise of exhilaration and fiery adventure. Within the first few minutes, we get a glimpse into the world of Santiago “Pope” Garcia, who works as a military commander battling drug crime in Colombia. After a welcoming committee of sharp shooting, explosions, and a chase through crowded streets, he soon discovers the whereabouts of drug lord Gabriel Martin Lorea through his informant—a young woman who offers him information in exchange of helping her and her brother escape the country.
With a fresh lead and a new motive, Pope recruits the help of his fellow Special Forces members to take down Lorea, seize his safehouse and steal the riches he’s been stowing away for themselves.

In the beginning, a sense of redemption is at the center of the team’s crosshairs. “Everything we’ve done over the last 17 years with nothing to show for it,” stresses Pope ahead of the mission. "If we had accomplished half the things that we've accomplished in any other profession, we'd be set for life. The question is, do we finally get to use our skills for our own benefit?"
With overdue debt and a child to send through college, it doesn’t take much convincing for the head planner of the mission, Tom “Redfly” Davis (Ben Affleck) to agree. The rest of the gang follows suit, strengthening their bond as they lay their lives on the line.
As the plot unfolds, however, Triple Frontier begins to truly bare its teeth. As conflict reaches fever pitch and situations turn awry, the film reveals itself to be a study in human greed. Pope, Redfly, Ironhead, Ben and Catfish, despite their skill sets and experiences, are no different from the rest of us. They, too, fall into a vicious cycle of materialism and greed.

With a unique way of spotlighting the dark and ugly sides of the human persona, it becomes clear by the end of the film that Triple Frontier is more than just another heist film. It’s a wake-up call swathed in a costume of a gripping story line, riveting action scenes and show-stopping cinematography—and perhaps just what we need in the here and now.
