Underrated Netflix Series You Need To Add To Your Watch List

These shows deserve a little loving.

While it’s usually great to keep up with the more popular series and movies, sometimes it pays off to look for something different. There isn’t a shortage of great shows to feast our eyes on, we just need to dig a little deeper for them sometimes.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Get into the heart of the New York City Police Department’s 99th precinct, which is filled with colorful and talented individuals and headed by newly appointed Captain Ray Holt. Working for him is Jake Peralta, who tops the squad but is generally carefree about his methods and is the complete opposite of Amy Santiago. Then there’s often emotional Charles Boyle and the stoic Rosa Diaz, as well as veterans Michael Hitchcock and Norman Scully.

The detectives report to none other than Sergeant Terry Jeffords, a family man that fears being killed in the line of duty. Rounding up the character list is Gina Linetti, the civilian administration who doesn’t seem to care much for her job.

Why you should watch it: It’s funny, but not without relevance.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

After being forced to live in a bunker for 15 years, Kimmy Schmidt and three other women are saved and introduced to the modern world. Wanting to experience everything that life has to offer, she decides to stay in New York and start over again. This series is about her trying to navigate herself through rent, work, love and friendship.

Why you should watch it: Who doesn’t want to see Ellie Kemper explore New York City after more than a decade of minimal human interaction?

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Being successful and Ivy League-educated does not mean you have a level head. Just look at Rebecca Bunch, a real-estate lawyer that leaves behind her promotion at the chance to reconnect with an ex-boyfriend that she never got over. And how does she try to win him back? By flushing down her anxiety and depression meds and dating her ex’s friend.

Why you should watch it: Because girls can honestly get hilariously demented and this show is the hilarious epitome of that.

The 100

After the world is thought to experience its apocalypse, 2,400 survivors living on a station in the Earth’s orbit set out back to land. Once there, they discover three groups of humans that survived. There are the Grounders who live in a constant power struggle, the Reapers who have turned into cannibals and the Mountain Men who live in Mount Weather and have locked themselves away.

Why you should watch it: It’s a dystopian story unlike any other.

DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow

Time Master Rip Hunter goes rogue after his family is murdered by Vandal Savage. With Savage’s demise in mind, Hunter recruits Ray Palmer (aka The Atom), Sarah Lance (aka White Canary), Martin Stein and Jax Jackson. They soon become Firestorm, Hawkgirl, Hawkman, Captain Cold and Heat Wave. They then discover that the Time Masters are supporting Savage in his world domination attempt in 2166 and must stop him.

Why you should watch it: Because who doesn’t love a superhero mashup?
