Take Off to Wanderland
Head on to an amazing journey to the stars. This March 5, 2016, Wanderland Music & Arts Festival will take you to an out-of-this-world adventure at the Globe Circuit Makati open grounds. Now on its fourth year, be prepared to witness the gathering of amazing Wander troopers for a day filled with arts, music, and games.
This music and arts festival has become an annual tradition of good music and good people. It showcases international and homegrown indie bands on the same stage, treating the fans to an all-day music greatness.

Death Cab for Cutie

First on the list is the indie trio from Bellingham, Washington—Death Cab for Cutie. Composed of Ben Gibbard (vocals, guitar, piano), Nick Harmer (bass), and Jason McGerr (drums), Death Cab for Cutie has been rocking the music scene since 1997. The band has 8 Grammy nominations on their sleeve as well as four EPs, two live EPs, one live album, one demo album, and eight full-length studio albums. Their latest album is called Kintsungi—a philosophy derived from the Japanese art of repairing cracked ceramics with gold to highlight flaws instead of hiding them.
Bon Iver

It may be the band's first time in Manila, but they're certainly no newbies in the industry. Formed in 2007 by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, Bon Iver has released two albums, For Emma, Forever Ago and Bon Iver, Bon Iver, wherein they won the 2012 Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Music Album. It's also in the same year that they won the Grammy for Best New Artist. The name of the band is derived from the French phrase bon hiver, which means "good winter" taken from a greeting on Northern Exposure.
The Naked and Famous

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, The Naked and Famous started their band back in 2007 when Thom Power and Alisa Xayalith worked on an EP with engineer and fellow MAINZ music college student, Aaron Short. Ever since their formation, this indie electronic band has released two studio albums Passive Me, Aggressive You (2010) and In Rolling Waves (2013). If you're wondering how they got their unique name, it's from the English artist Tricky's song Tricky Kid. He quotes the line ``everybody wants to be naked and famous``, from The Presidents of the United States of America's song ``Naked and Famous".
San Cisco

Back in 2009, an indie pop quartet was formed in the sunny streets of Western Australia. Though initially called King George, it was not long enough before Jordi Davieson, Scarlett Stevens, Nick Gardner, and Josh Biondillo decided to change their band's name to San Cisco. They're best known for their songs Beach, Awkward, and Wild Things and new album Gracetown which was just released last March 6, 2015.
Blackbird Blackbird

Be captivated by dreamy foltronica music from this San Francisco-based wünderkind Mikey Maramag, also known as Blackbird Blackbird. He recalls his influences in music from all ends of the musical spectrum. What makes Blackbird Blackbird elongated song structures unique is his use of thematic elements of dynamism and composition to create depth and complexity, while also adding his pop sensibilities.
Here are the other bands to watch out for in Wanderland:

Now that you had a glimpse of the performing bands, it's time to prepare a list of things to bring for this weekend. Here's a few must-haves to get the best out of your Wanderland experience:
1. Comfortable Clothes and Footwear
It's a whole day event filled with exciting games and performances. Be sure to wear your most comfortable clothes and footwear so you can make the most out of the experience. Your getup might get wet or dirty in some of the activities, so bring extra clothes as well.
2. Mat or Blanket
All the booth hopping, singing, and dancing can tire you out, so a mat or blanket to sit on can come in handy. Share a mat with your barkada and enjoy the music while lying down or chilling out on the concert grounds.
3. Sunblock
Since the music festival will be held in the open grounds of Circuit Makati, you can expect the venue to be hot and sunny. Dab on sunblock before heading to camp and while you're there, try to get some cover from time to time.
4. Hat, Poncho, or Umbrella
Nothing beats a person who's always prepared! Bring a hat, poncho, or umbrella (preferably the handy foldable one) to keep you safe under the blazing heat (and dry in case it rains.)
5. Camera
Your Wanderland experience will never be complete without taking selfies and groufies with friends. To capture this memorable event, don't forget to bring your point and shoot camera (DSLR are not allowed) or use your mobile phone's camera instead. Now that you're all set for this out-of-this-world music festival, get yourself acquainted to the bands by listening to their playlists in Spotify.
