5 Modern-Day Women We're Looking Up to This Women's Month—And Every Day
With March signalling the arrival of Women’s Month, there’s no better time than the present to appreciate the women in our lives. From our mothers and grandmothers to our teachers and colleagues, it’s high time we pause and recognize all the wonderful things we learn from these female figures every day.
This month is also a wonderful time to look outward at the women in power and seats of influence. While they may not be part of our personal circles, the news, media and society have given us our fair share of female role models to look up to. Women who have taken fearless leaps in science. Women who have brought Philippine talent to the global game. Women who have helped others rise from the ranks.
Up ahead, we spotlight 5 modern-day women we’re drawing inspiration from this month.

This is for every girl whose confidence comes from compliments about how pretty she is, for every young lady who bares her body for 1000 likes, for every new mother who feels pressured to immediately lose her baby weight, and for every woman who thinks she could never be as beautiful as the photoshopped version of herself: Know that you’re beautiful just the way you are, but also that you are SO MUCH MORE than your looks. ✨✨✨ Here’s to using the power of inspiring stories and honest conversations to redefine limiting beauty standards, and to promote genuine & enduring sources of self-worth. #thebodyloverevolution ⚡️👄⚡️ P.S. This is also for our CEO @sarah_meier who managed to work on our #shetalksasia newsletter while undergoing labor. #whatisdedication 😘
Lynn Pinugu knows a thing or two about the importance of education. After having encountered financial difficulties mid-way through college, Lynn counted on her scholarships and the kindness of others to get her through college and a year-long youth mission in Mexico. Repaying the favor, she eventually established the Philippine community for Mano Amiga, a school for children whose families do not have ample funds to invest in schooling.
