These Yoda Advice-Giving Moments Are Giving Us All The #Feels

Hit you right at the heart, it will

The Karate Kid had Mr. Miyagi, Harry Potter had Professor Dumbledore and Po had Master Shifu. The world of film has produced plenty of inspiring mentor-mentee pairings, but we’re especially jealous that Luke Skywalker walked his path under the tutelage of Yoda.

Yoda, with his odd way of speaking and oftentimes unconventional methods, cemented his way into our heads and our hearts as we fell in love with the Star Wars Galaxy. And much like Luke internalized his master’s lessons, we have also come as close as we can to the way of the Jedi thanks to Yoda’s more-than-wise pieces of advice.

“Do or do not. There is no try.”

For when you feel like giving up.

“A challenge lifelong it is, not to bend fear into anger.”

For when you need a little perspective.

“Ohhh. Great warrior. Wars not make one great.”

For when you get a little ahead of yourself – because we all have those moments.

“You fail because you don’t believe.”

For when you need a little pick-me-up.

“To be Jedi is to face the truth, and choose. Give off light, or darkness, Padawan. Be a candle or the night.”

For when you’re at a crossroads.

“Fear is the path to the dark side… fear leads to anger… anger leads to hate… hate leads to suffering.”

For those spiraling down moments that you need a little help stopping.

“A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.”

For when we lose sight of where we want to go.

“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

For the times we forget to look at things with an open mind.

“Always pass on what you have learned.”

For when your friends turn to you for advice

“No longer certain, that one ever does win a war, I am. For in fighting the battles, the bloodshed, already lost we have. Yet, open to us a path remains. That unknown to the Sith is. Through this path, victory we may yet find. Not victory in the Clone Wars, but victory for all time.”

For the inevitable times you will fail and you need help seeing the bigger picture.

We may have had to bid Yoda farewell in Episode VI: The Return of The Jedi, but he’s never actually left us. His words of encouragement live on in the Star Wars galaxy thanks to those whose hearts he’s touched and hands he (figuratively) held.

And with Star Wars: The Last Jedi almost upon us, we’re turning our eyes to Luke as he helps nudge Rey’s journey forward. It’ll be interesting to see Luke step into the shoes of a mentor and to find out whether or not he’ll mirror Yoda’s methods.

We know we aren’t the only ones counting down the days to December 13. Deeps breaths, everyone – almost there.
