Art Lovers, Rejoice! Art Fair Is Back With A Bigger, More Spectacular 2018 Showcase
Featuring the best in modern and contemporary Philippine visual art
Following the success of its 2017 installment (attended by over 40,000 people), Art Fair Philippines is kicking off March with something bigger: Its venue, The Link along Parkway Drive, Makati, is now entirely dedicated to Art Fair 2018. From March 1 to 4, art enthusiasts can check out the installations, paintings, art talks and the all-new section of photography exhibit. All this and more are happening under one roof, on all six levels of The Link building, making this the biggest annual art event in the country.

Globe Platinum Perks at Art Fair 2018:
As Art Fair’s co-presenter, Globe Platinum is treating its Globe Platinum card holders to complementary entrance to the event on all four days (regular tickets are priced at P350). All they have to do is present their Globe Platinum card at the reception upon entry. The venue will be made open to the public on March 1 to 4 during these times: 10AM to 1.30PM, 2PM to 5PM and 5.30PM to 9PM.
This collaboration is also bringing together exhibitors Rachelle Rillo, Neal Oshima, Jake Versoza and many others to create Art Fair postcards (exclusive tokens for attendees).

“I live in my own little world—but it's OK, they know me here,” are words that best describe my artistic process. In a space generously provided by my sponsor Globe Platinum, I will create my Little Red Riding Hood tableau. Her fairy tale story will come to life, in great detail. I plan to maximize the visual content with a short film I made in New York that will be projected on a wall and other short films that will be viewed on Huawei cellphones scattered in my imagined playground. A visual feast is what I want to offer my viewers and will cover topics relevant in a woman's world: sexual predator predicament and a young woman's coming of age. I will also introduce a limited-edition art capsule, "Plet-in-a-box," that captures my essence as an artist—my hopes, my dreams and my vision.”—Plet Bolipata

Plet is a visual artist, largely self-taught. She picked up the brush at 28 years of age and had her first one man exhibit at the Penguin Gallery in Malate in 1992 at 30. Having discovered her love for painting, she convinced her parents to send her to New York to take drawing and painting classes at the Art Students League and lived in that great and visually exciting city from 1993 to 1996. ‘Greatly influenced by the Impressionists, most especially by Édouard Manet with whom she has found ‘wisdom and solace,’ Bolipata’s pieces push the envelope and shatter conventions. Hers are narratives that are visually exciting, as in a novel that is a page- turner—one that touches and awakens your senses. Hers are works with textured images spun from her head, with seemingly cathartic concepts, and with an eccentric sensibility, as also seen in her paper collages.
Her experience of Park Guell in Barcelona and first brush with Gaudi's ingenuity left a lasting impression on her in 2004. She sat in that park and convinced herself she could do this, too. The art of mosaic making intrigued her. It didn't take long for her to flourish in that art form and in 2006, she was commissioned by CASA San Miguel to make the entrance (two walls) of this prestigious center. In 2010, she brought her mosaic animals dubbed as "Mad Men" to her solo exhibition in Boston Gallery. Truly, as an artist, the world is her oyster.
Plet lives a quiet and creatively productive life with her beloved and distinguished husband/ painter, Elmer Borlongan, in San Antonio, Zambales.
