Everything You Need To Pack In Case Of A Disaster

You can never be too safe

There has been a lot of talk lately about an earthquake that might hit a big part of Metro Manila in the next few years. Public and private institutions have taken their own steps to make sure that everyone is aware and knows what to do in case it hits. But while we know what to physically do, it’s equally important to know what to take with you.

Water and food

This is a no-brainer, but you still have to be smart about it. Pack enough water for a couple of days and pack food that won’t spoil quickly but will fill you up fast. This might sound extreme for a few people, but you really never know how big the disaster will be and how long its effects will last.

A radio

In really bad cases, a radio might be your only source of information. You’ll be safe with a battery powered one, but do pack a crank-powered radio if you can get your hands on it. You’ll have to put some elbow grease into it once in a while, but it would theoretically last you longer.

Flashlights and chargers

Our devices are only useful as long as they have battery. After that, they’re pretty much just extra baggage. So don’t forget to include a reliable and effective powerbank in your bag. You can opt for one with a built in flashlight as well, like the Euroo Dual. Naturally, you’ll need to bring your cords as well. Rock Space is a 3-in-1 charging cable, so you’ll be covered for all your devices.

First aid kit

You can stick with the basics on this one—fill in a small kit with some medicine and some band aids. Of course, you’ll have to include the items that are specific to you, like an inhaler or allergy meds. But if you want to over-prepare, then put in some sanitary pads and even a small sewing kit as well.

Whistle

It’s such a small item, but a whistle can literally save your life in times of peril. If the need arises, you can use it to help others detect where you are. It’s easier than shouting and you never really know if you’ll be in the condition to do so anyway.

The right bag

Everything you pack needs to be properly stored. You need to choose a bag that is durable, weather proof and lightweight. The Taclob—Courage offers all of these features and even works as a life-vest.
